3D touchcsreen display

Can you get a 3D touchcsreen display? If so where about can you buy them? Because i would love to have one.

Why? just why? Two of the biggest gimmicks ever invented by man. You wan't to touch the screen and leave it filled with smudges? Only good for a tradeshow. 3D is also a gimmick that needs to die sooner rather than later.

I agree, 3D needs to die, well until they sort glasses less 3D out then I will be sort of interested.

Neither of them are gimmicks, they are both VERY useful/successful/profitable products. 3D technology is amazing and works very well, just because you do not like it doesn't mean its a gimmick. and how can you say touch screen is a gimmick, pretty much everything uses it now, are you saying the iphone, samsung fascinate, ipad are gimmicks?

Each to their own but I think you will find a lot of people at the moment find 3D to be a gimmick, maybe not in the future when it doesn't require glasses and it's native in all TVs, portable media players, phone etc. To many films are released theses days and marketed as OMG EPIC 3D but that is all the film is about and on top of that you have a layer of OMG EPIC CGI. The acting and the story of the film come lat and it's all about making money off of the 3D. It's not so bad for gaming because it does add an extra layer of depth but it's bad for your eyes, yes I know gaming is anyway but 3D even more so, it's expensive and you need a high end GPU in order to get a descent frame rate.

As for touch screen it has it's uses but personalty for things like phones I like the feel of pressing a button tapping a screen just doesn't feel right to me.

Anyway that is my personal opinion.

I also believe that 3D is a gimmick, I believe it adds nothing to the experience it causes nausea in a lot of people including myself sometimes. Now I am not saying that the technology will not progress to a point where I will find it acceptable. I just find it rather dumb at this point. As for touch screens they are not a gimmick imo, they allow you to interact with software differently e.g. is use my iPad to draw which I can not do with a mouse as well. I think touch-screen has more implications where as 3D is just an add on which is kinda overrated, in my opinion.

I agree with SieB on one thing when it comes to touch screens, I prefer a physical keyboard to that of a touch screen one.

I'm not sure about mixing the two together really but I think there both great I would call neither of them a gimmick. 3d is just expensive and not a lot of people can afford it but as time goes on I think most homes will have 3d tvs/monitors just like most homes have touchscreen gadgets in so meny different forms.

3D is a godsend to digital media. it makes the immersion SOOO much better. My grandfather was telling me how people thought 3D surround was also a gimmick another words surround sound. and look at it today.

I just don't see it yet....i'll stick with 2D for the time being
