3D Modeling/Gaming Build

Yup. It took a while but they finally got it sorted in the latest drivers.

Even with the fix and the SLI indicator on I wasn't seeing any more than around 40 FPS.

It's fixed now though :)

Thats great mate thank you very much was abit worried about that!

Had no intentions of using the thermal adhesive arctic supply I was going to use double sided thermal tape :) and thats the exact card im getting im just paranoid that my computer will sound like a jet with two gpu's :p also I think it will really fill out the box with those massive coolers but maybe im just mad still thinking about aesthetics even thought I wont actually be looking into the case

OK quick lesson on acoustics.

If one 12" subwoofer puts out 120db 1w @ 1m then two will put out around 124db or something pathetic like that. Each time you add another sound source the noise level improvement becomes less and less..

I run two 670s in SLI (Jetstreams) and they don't get noisy until you really stress them the hell out. I'm talking leaving Unigene Valley running after the benchmark has finished for nearly an hour, at which point my GPUs reached 76c (never seen them that hot before now).

Two cards makes hardly any more noise than one, because they are the same sounds at the same level (if that makes sense).

Just make sure you get a good board with good spacing that gives them room to breathe. Never butt two cards up right next to each other as the top one will get really hot..

I understand what your trying to say mate I was just worried that the cards themselves where not very quiet I have read they are good performers but its hard to believe what you read.

Thats why I went for the Arctics in the first place. Thats also the same reason I chose that board as it had ideal spacing I needed but with a reference from NEX-S I now know they are indeed a quiet card so I really should stop fussing :p

Thanks very much for your help mate :D

I've used nearly every high end card and cooler and tbh they're all around the same.

The Twin Frozr III on my 6970 Lightning was pretty much inaudible until I got to 60% fan speed at which point you could hear it whirring. The Jetstreams are literally identical.

I also had a Zalman V3000F on my GTX 670 and again, up until about half the fan speed you couldn't hear it so I ran it like that 24/7.

The cooler on the Asus is just as big as the Arctic tbh so you really should be fine with that. Just remember to buy a case that's either specifically designed for SLI *or* has the right placement for the fans to accommodate it.

A side fan is always a good idea bringing air in to feed the GPUs. Either that or buy a case that has a fan loaded right in front of the GPUs.

670s are not what I would call hot cards tbh.
