Hi all,

I have 2 3870X2 cards and my temps are soaring around 79 on desktop for gpu 1 and 4 although gpu 2 and 3 show as 55

I nead to water cool these and am going to use the XSPC Razors has anyone water cooled these cards before and what temps did you get down to ?

I imagine w/c will knock temps down to 30ish deg.

The diff in temp between the cores is probably due to one having a copper plate and the other alu...

Have you any idea as to what core is what, I guess that core 1 is the one connected to the monitor but not sure how the other 3 cores are being listed.

Also is there a way to test that all cores are working like you can with the SLi bars ?

In the stock heat sink the first core has ali sink and the second has copper. This is to even the temps out a bit. The ali gets the cool air first then the copper with better thermal properties gets the warmer air from the 1st core.

If that makes sense. This shows that water cooling will have a massive impact on the clocking of the cards, because the hotter core will limit the card.

If its 79 stock, you don't have much head room for overclocking.

The X2s do run comparitvely warm. The temperatures of around 80'C that you are experiencing is quite normal, depending on what case you have?

Thing is the X2 cooler tends only to get to about 33% duty even at those temperatures. You could use something like RivaTuner to increase the fan duty - if you put these things to 100% your temperatures will plummit, as will your ability to hear anything else.

LOL, yeah, id recommend going the liquid route with these puppies. I will be doing the same here with mine.
