3800x2 and mach 2 gt

What clocks have people been getting with a 3800 x2 and a mach 2 gt? I cant decide whether to go for the 3800x2 or 4400x2 for the extra cache. Ive seen 4400x2's doing 2.0-3.2 on phase so wondered what the 3800x2's were getting.

Thanks

ah yea in the tempest system... I thought it might be limited by the asus motherboard? Im running a DFI ULTRA-D so was thinking it might go higher.

Maybe phil could confirm if the 2.8 in the tempest is motherboard limited? I'm not sure how high a htt the asus boards are happy with.

Please consider that the tempest has to be ooverclocked to the max safe limit as far as a manufacturuer is concerned - EPUK has to warrant it's products.

So there probs is more in the tank as far as overclocking goes.

I have not seen anyone get 3.2Ghz with an X2 4400 using mach2 cooling.

3ghz is possible with both chips - Dazboots got a good clock with his, but that was using extreme settings to achieve this and should be considered exceptional rather than the norm.

Ok, yes i admit it was probably a rare case of getting 3.1-3.2 on a 4400. Anything equal to or over 3ghz on a 4400 will do me so i think i will probably go for one of those for the extra cache.

Thanks for your input. :)

The Tempest system is limited to 2.8ghz stable 24/7 due to the motherboard limitation of 1.55v on the vcore.

Thanks for clearing that up phil. What made you choose the asus board in the tempest? As they dont offer quite the same overclocking options as the likes of DFi. I thought maybe it is due to the fact that you cant fit the side panel on the case with the dfi ultra-d/sli-d/dr? I have found this out after having a mach 2 gt + pc65 + dfi ultra-d 8)

The ASUS board was chosen for 24/7 stability at those overclocked settings the DFI is a great mobo but they are very picky

If Phil sold a DFI to someone who didn't know what they were doing then they could have easily damaged the chip or messed up the stability of the unit
