3770K or 2700K or 2600K

As with the others, the Ivy i7 is the best choice. I get around the 22k PPD mark with mine clocked at 4.4GHz.

What m/b are you using with that Josh? Do you think (taking into account the "silicon lottery") that most boards will clock to 4.6?

The 3770K is the fastest processor on the market right now so that would be my choice. If you can get a smoking deal on the 2600K though it might be worth it. The 3770K is only ~5% faster but the 2600K will overclock a little faster so if you can get a really good deal on a Sandy, it might be worth it. Otherwise, Ivy.

It's taken my chip up to 5GHz at reasonable volts, but I run all my fans on 5v so i clock lower to ensure better temps. I can't promise anything with the boards, i'm afraid, as it's still mainly to do with the properties of your CPU. 'Z77A G45 would be a good choice, and should get you into the 4.4GHz-4.6GHz if you have a decent CPU.
I must also say that my overall PPD may be higher, but I have this annoying habit of using my PC for things other than folding. Folding and gaming do not seem to go well together, so the client's often paused for hours at a time.

I like the right angle usb3 connector on the board as well.

lol the 3770k is a enthsiest processor so is the 3570k.. They are in no way the fastest desktop processors lol.. Twenty Eleven forever will be the best desktop chips, along with the 990X

id say go budget and grab a ivy for low power and heat

ones i have money to spend again, i will upgrade to more (CPU) core setups..
i thought i had done a nice GPU Upgrade but only with a 8057p its worth having a GTX670\680

Depending on what Stanford is up to, i upgrade ,

For the mid-4GHz clock power phases don't really matter. Ivy sips on so little power that it's not as important as it used to be.
