Does the i5 3570K OC as well as i7 3770K?
How do they compare to 2011, does 2011 OC better?

2011 OC worse because they generate a lot more heat.
On both 3770k and 3570k you can overclock straight to 4.5ghz easily enough on pretty much any motherboard.
Most people say the 3570k seems to overclock better than the 3770k. In my personal experience this hasn't been the case, but that's just comparing my 3770k to a mates 3570k.
They're pretty much the same though tbh - I wouldn't recommend taking it much higher than 4.5/4.6ghz on either for a 24/7 OC
What did he say?
Probably just that they start getting hot after around 4.5/4.6ghz - But I don't really see that as much of an issue as you're mad if you're going over that for 24/7 anyway unless you've got a massive WC loop
...I highly doubt he said 1366 is better...
The 3770k nearly beats the 990X on benchmarks...
Ivy Bridge is great if you don't already have a Sandy chip.
3570K vs 3770K vs 2011 chips are real a matter of what you want to do with them. They'll all hit the mid 4ghz well enough.
Well yea BF3 can take advantage of more threads but then you are talking about the ability of the game to exceed the capacity of the chip and a single GPU will limit the FPS well before that. For example:
On a 64 player map in BF3 at ultra settings my 3570K @ 4.8ghz produces comfortably over 100fps.
My two 7950s (1250mhz/1525mhz) are running virtually flat out to keep up.
If I had a single GPU i'd get 50-70fps at which point my cpu would be loaded at about 50%. So you could have more cores, or faster cores, but it doesn't really matter - the gpu will bottleneck well before the cpu will. Better to save that money you were going to spend on an i7 and get a better gpu instead (or second gpu).
But as I say, your 970 is great for gaming. My mate has one and it's plenty.
That's right, it doesn't really matter although it's best if they are set to the same clock speeds.
Yea that seems pretty sensible. It's always a bit of a gamble judging prices. Arguably you could wait for the AMD 8000 series to turn up and you might get an excellent deal on a gtx670 but it's hard to tell what will happen. I don't think getting a 670 would be worth the upgrade from your 580. In my experience it's never worth getting the top line card on release (if at all) probably aim at the gtx 770.
Bah I think that is too far away to worry about! At least 2 generations of hardware will come out between now and then and we'll probably be colonising Mars
