what's the benefits and whats the disanvantages of having 32gb of ram? i'm planning to make a new build and i m not sure about the memory that i have to buy .

i m between two kits, the one is slower but it's 32gb: 4x8gb cl11 and the other one it's little faster but 16gb : 4x4gb cl7 , both are running at 1600, corsair kits.

My new system : cpu: ivy, i7-3770,mobo: Asus P8Z77-v pro,

i m not planning to make any oc, the use of that pc will be for some photoshop, video editing and some gaming.

thanks

don't think you'll have much need of 32GB ram.

16GB will be plenty, even 8GB might work for what your going to use it for.

So I would go the 16GB myself

Benefits:

You get to brag you have 32gb of ram.

Disadvantages:

You'll have wasted around £100

and as jamesriley94 said you will have spent loads more than you needed to spend

I would go for 16gb but on the other hand for bragging rights...

also bare in mind the more dims the lower are the overclocking capabilities of the ram because of stability etc.

I have 8gb and its more than enough to run bf3 ultra'd 1080p(1gb vram)

16 gigs, if you run CAD in 3 windows and 32, if you run a server that will actually use these gigs, otherwise just tick with 4gb x2 or x4

What OS are you going to run if you run windows 7 you need professional or higher to use more thern 16GB I'd go with 16Gb it's enough for video rendering if you dont do massively huge projects also you save some money
