32" LCD TV as a monitor...

Congrats of the postage lol. But... If... If the LCD is HD then wouldnt the feed from my gfx cards be HD so there would be some HD lovin on a big fat screen?

Yeah but when I say HD i mean it in a different sense :) HD in 1080 is great for watching TV, but still sucks for computing if you're on a big TV. When I speak of HD, I'm talkin' 30" panel with a resolution of 2560x1600, hehe.

Why don't you just buy a nice 20.1" monitor and get a nice plasma 19" TV?

I have a 19" monitor thats decent, its just too small!!! A 20" isn't worth the upgrade imo.

I don't really like plasma's as they are prone to burn - where a ghost image is permanently etched into the screen.

I want one magic screen that displays tv/films/games/internet all in decent quality. In 30" fine inches or 32, maybe high 20's.

This FSC lcd in HD for £500 seems sweet... Will i really notice any blurring surfing the net?

According to Frag and all the other people on the forums that know about TV's as monitors say they are garbage and i'll agree with them.

I don't think TFT's are very bad as monitors - it's just that you only get like 1024 x 768 (or whatever your TV supports), meaning that you have a bit of a small desktop area to work with

If you want a TV then go for it but it's not ideal in a PC environment

CRT? I'm not about to go old school! I get your point though, i checked the specs of the tv, at least the one i think he means, its only got a 1300 x 768 res. I set my desktop to this to get an idea - its absolutely dire!

Maybe the 22/24" widescreen dell is the way forward. I looked at a 19" widescreen monitor and hated it - no height to the screen at all, looked rediculous. Are the bigger widescreens in better proportion? more height to the screen?

as some of you guys know, i brought a lcd tv couple of weeks ago and have my pc running through it through a crappy vga cable. Quality seems fine. following pics probs doesnt do it justice.

i dont think having a high res on a big tv is good anyways. lets face it, your not going to be sat 1m away from a 30"+ tv. if your sat 5m away with a high res, ur not gonna be able to see much. Above is set at 1360 by 768. not sure what the hdtv spec is, so i suspect it could do that res.

I was hoping someone that has an lcd tv setup would get stuck in! The photo's look blurry but thats the camera, not the screen, right? lol

You make a fine point about the distance thing, i want to be able to sit on my bed/chair and still veiw what is on the screen...

I'd be using the HDMI lead and the tv would be HD so that should sharpen it all up. Now I have something to think about... Both sides... Cheers

Ye deffo agree on the distance thing. High res is hard to see from far away. Just depends on how you will do your PC viewing - close up or a bit further away

I meant TFT also :)

I have not said quality would be bad on an HDTV - in fact it should be good. I just don't think I could sacrifice my normal every-day working desktop area just so I could have a TV :)

Stood in the Currys TV section looking at all these £1200+ TV screens, that tbh are pretty sheet for the price.

Tbh, I`d get a bigger and bigger PC-TFT, cos there is no competition.

The TVs look all.. mushed and.. cloudy ? (talking about 10-14' away)

Colors are nice tho :p

The TV's in Curry's are running off like 1 or 2 AV signals and so the signal sucks.

My Mum and dad have a 40" Sony Bravia and HD looks friggin awesome on that

U not looking at the same Currys as me obviously.

Nah, the "special" 40+" one they had on a wall on it`s own, playing some video of a stately home and it`s interiors etc was pants.

I stood in front of it and pointed out all the squashy looking picture and the broken bit lines the "straight" things had to their near customers. Probably not best pleased.

EDIT: All else aside, they look 10000 times better than the crappy 28" widescreen I got. But value per buck, I`m yet to be convinced. Look too much like expanded technology to me.
