2x EVGA 1080 FE or wait for another model?

Hey y'all,

Much like the title suggests, I managed to get ahold of 2x EVGA 1080s FE cards. I am wondering how much performance will I be losing compared to cards like the EVGA FTW, MSI Gaming X, and/or Gigabytes Xtreme 1080 editions. Perhaps there is a post, review, or forum discussing this already. I am just very interested in the scaling for SLI for the FE vs. other brand partner models.

Warmly,
D

Performance is basically the same. If you get a bad OC'ing model from the AIBs and a really good OC'ing FE card, the FE will end up being faster if thermals are kept in check. It's really luck of the draw, the Silicon Lottery if you will.

Would prefer blower coolers for sli setups anyways.

1080s do dump little heat and given the coolers, prob aint all that relevant.

Especially with the little power consumption, there should be less of an issue if you have good ventilation. Its more personal preference for these cards.

Given the shortage of any AIB out there at the moment and having looked at various benchmarks for AIB cards, the performance increase is actually very negligible. Of course AIB cards bring different cooling options and have nicer aesthetics, but i's stick if I were in your shoes.

Yeah I had massive issues while I had two 980Ti cards dumping heat into my 900d. The airflow on that case is horrendous. Luckily it was just temporary while my WC blocks arrived.

Air cooling and FE cards are the way to go for SLI.
