Plus there's no point in 4gb on 32bit

No point in over 2GB on XP. Using 3GB atm and 1->3 made little difference.

Crazy price for a nice set though:eek:

I have a question here, not to appear too dumb, but cos unbelievably I`ve only got 1 ddr2 pc here and my nephew uses it, but - with the speed of these mem strips being 6400, is it the case that this rating is good for newer mobos and u can get a good oc on them, or is it like ddr1 where 400 is the mostly "manufacturer based limit", but if u got 500 u can oc u`r processor much more without worrying about being tied to a % over 400.

Reason I ask is that I see 8500?? speed ddr2... soo apart from the price, why don`t peoples get this ?

Is it that 8500 is way over the mobo "mbl" or what is the standard limit of a ddr2 based mobo, by fsb?

If ive understood what your asking rast, then PC2-6400 is basically the current price/performance point so lots of people go with it.

With the c2ds it depends of the chip. If you have a 200fsb allendale, the PC2-6400 is the same as the old DDR PC3200 to a 200mhz FSB a64/P4. And 8000/8500 is the higher rated stuff, like PC4000 or higher was.

However if your using a conroe with the FSB of 266 then 8500 is the right speed. too get the extra boost you need somthing like PC2-9200.

Hope that helps...
