27" 1440p 60htz or 27" 1080p 144htz gsync with DSR

I'm stuck in deciding whether to grab a 27" 60htz 2560 x 1440 monitor or grab the 27" 1920 x 1080 144htz gsync monitor and use DSR to give the 2k/4k effect as I've heard the 120htz+ looks smooth and with DSR on my sli 970's I should be able to get the 4k ish detail.

I've been thinking the exact same thing :D
That Acer XB270HA is looking rather good, apart from it being a TN panel. I was thinking about grabbing it until there are IPS 1080p Gsync monitors.

You read my mind that is the exact monitor I was looking at

Maybe I did
But it is the only 1080p Gsync monitor in the works at the moment so it had to be that one :)

I'm very tempted to get it, some people in the US have one already and from reading what they are saying it is a good monitor.

The colors don't look that bad on it either, I know this is a youtube vid and you can't really see the full quality but you can see that it isn't bad.

I forgot about that one, i'd rather go with the Acer over the AOC one for the extra screen size though.

EDIT:

This one was announced today, apparently available later this month.

According to press release it is going to be £499 which is £140 more than the Acer.

I would rather have the acer.

I just want to find out if DSR on the acer 144htz would look as good as a native 1440p monitor 60htz then I might take the plunge

Native 1440p will always look better because of the extra pixels, but 1440p with DSR on 1080p will still look better than normal 1080p would.

I just ordered the Acer so hopefully I will have it on Friday, OCUK say they are expecting stock tomorrow :D
I'll let you know my thoughts when I have had a play with it :)

Depends on what you use your monitor for. If you use it mainly for work, editing or games with not a whole lot of motion like strategy games go for 1440p, if you play games like racing games or first person shooters you are definitely better off with the 144hz monitor.

Hmmmm I already have a DGM 27" 1440p monitor but its only 60htz, I do a lot of gaming mainly and tend to play RPG's and FPS's, I really like the idea of g-sync and everyone keeps talking about how nice 120htz plus looks but there is no way Im spending £700 on a monitor (Asus) to get g-sync at my current res.

Im willing to downgrade resolution ands keep the same screen size if G-Sync, DSR and 144htz are worth the trade

That's the way I see it as well, i'd rather have 1080p with 144hrz and Gsync than just 1440p and 1440hrz. Plus with DSR you are getting better picture quality which is closer to native 1440p anyway. Having the ROG Swift would be awesome, but £700 is a bit steep for me and i'm not sure it is even worth that anyway.
You could get two of the Acer 1080p Gysnc monitors for just over the price of the Swift. Or you could even get one of the 4K version of the Acer for £200 less.

I dont think the swift is worth the money either its more than both my gtx970 G1 gaming gpu's which is insane. I dont want to go 4k yet as its just too demanding for today's gpu's as I like all the bells and whistles enabled when I play a game and thats just no going to happen on 4k.

I wish there were some kind of comparison between a 1440p monitor at 60htz and a 1080p monitor at 144htz, 1440p DSR and G-Sync enabled.
