2400 vs 2666

Hi people I am not sure which sticks to go with if you could help me pick one that would be great. I am looking to do a nice high oc with a 3770k cpu I am wondering which ram should I go with, corsair 2400 MHz 16GB 8x8 dual sticks or 2666 MHz 8GB 4x4 dual sticks. Motherboard is the Asus Maximus V Formula.

more you over clock the harder it is for the memory controller to hold those higher clocks, you will be lowering them if you want a high and stable CPU OC.

Just going for the highest but balanced OC I am going to close this since I already bought the ram 2666MHz but thank you guys for your help!.

2400 is a pretty good clock for ram tbh but 2666 will cost you a fortune and youd probably be better off spending that money on better cooler for the cpu or / and extra on the GPU

I got the memory for $175 Dollars (Canadian) the 2400 was 16GB for $259 I have my water cooling parts together in waiting to buy just waiting to see about a graphics card now not sure if I want to buy a 780 or a 770 I was going for a 680 but that's out the window since the 770 is better and a bit cheaper savings is always good ^_^ (Tom would you be able to tell me if the water block from the 680 would fit the 770? Thankz BUSY BEE)

No it wont mate, they are very different PCB's if youd read or watched the reviews youd know that.

Awww poop sticks that kinda sucks you wouldn't happen to know if you can buy a block anywhere I am searching but cant find anything I can only find stuff for the 780

which 1 lol you think I should just go for a base clock no super clocks? ill have to do some reading on oc gpu's :lol: oh and why do you say the 780 its starting price is about $700 Canadian whch would be the out my head reach lol the woman would flip her head if you know what I mean

Edit: I found EK with a 770 block but its not out yet! would you know if the titan/780 block would fit From XSPC?
