hey, im about to buy a pc power cooling 510 atx deluxe psu from this forum but im guessing its atx v1.1 as it doesnt the 24pin connector on the psu...

im using an agp board at the minute so its not a big deal but i want to know if its possible to use an atx v1.1 psu with a pci-e board, would i need a 20 to 24 pin convertor and are these available....

if they are, are they stable enough for 24/7 use as i dont want it to be the weak link between my psu and mobo...

Yeah I used to use my antec 550W on a dfi mobo the dfi was 24pin my psu was 20 pin ran a treat but if you are going duel cards get the 24 pin

is your pp&c psu atxv2.0 and has a 24pin connector as your using it with the dfi nf4 board.

is that just on the sli models of the psu?

Ive been running my PCP&C 510 Deluxe on my DFI SLI-DR for months. I overclock the gfx card and my CPU and yet I have NEVER seen the rails fall below 12/3.3/5.

Im sure that if you're going to use a 20 pin PSU on a 24 pin board then the one to do it and not notice a difference will be the PCP&C.

Amazing PSU's... I not get the tagan if you havent already clicked it. Why not a OCZ Powerstream?

P&PC PSU are THE BEST!!

20 pins PSU are OK for non-sli systems, they lose stability as the overclocks get more extreme though.

It's a short term fix and if you want hte best performance you have to spend on the PSU.

Enermax 660w is not a bad unit (it's certainly less loud) but for a few quid more (and little more noise) the P&PC unit will not fail to impress.

I'll be going for the 850w version shortly - because the new GFX are gonna suck up some more juice, they are 85% efficient (saves a bit of cash in energy) - and I have been told because pitch of the noise is different it's much less intrusive than other models in their range.

I CAN'T SY THIS ENOUGH - NEVER EVER UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD POWER SUPPLY WHEN OVERCLOCKING.

Exactly. I really dont get it when people are happy to drop £400 on a graphics card (and then another £400 again for SLI) and then are unwilling to spend £150 on a decent PSU which will last longer that the cards (ie wont have to replace as soon), is VITAL for overclocking and carries the safety of potentially all your components with it.

PCP&C all the way (though the 850W is a touch overkill for me, and i hate having to balance load across split rails, i prefer strong single rails)

yes you will be needing a ninja psu if your running a highly oc'd cpu and two overclocked ultras per sai. but its not the be all and end all.

ive ran two overclcoked pcs a 2.4a prescott at 3.8ghz on water adn a venice at 2.8ghz on air and water.... all with a 400w generic psu that came with a case.

it powered the last two pcs without a glitche 24/7 isnt that loud due to a 120mm fan and have very stable rails... (i have all the information pulled from various sources so i can read it all on my desktop)

and the case only cost me 30 quid....

the only thing the psu couldnt handle was my bfg 6800gt overclocked past pre factory settings, it would blue screen during 3dmarks...

infact ive been using generic psus since i started building pcs back 14 years ago...

so for normal people spending 150 quid is obscene for a psu, just as soem people who wig out at spending that much on a graphics card or motherboard.

you dont need to spend 100 quid plus, there are some amazing psus at the lower end, and take that tagan for example 100 quid everywhere and 66 at micro direct.

the only reason im buying a new psu is to feed the 6800gt otherwise i wouldnt be ****d :)

mehh 2 cents
