So i have £2000 for a new pc, i plan on using it for gaming and h
Photoshop cs6, nothing else, i have £1500 for pc, and £500 for a monitor and case, i just dont know whats a good £1500 build not including case

And since this is my first forum post, im not sure if you guys are mainly from the u.s or uk, But £1500GBP =$2400 USD can someone provide me with a decent build for that price? It would help alot if the parts are on amazon too

An i7 3770k and a 680 would be sufficient. As for motherboard, ram and psu. I would go for an asus maximus and 16GB of patriot viper at 2133Mhz. A corsair CX750 would probably be enough and for storage grab a Samsung 840 series ssd. Depending on what case you are planning on getting i would get a h100i. I believe you would probably have enough to get an ax series psu and/or 32gb of ram. Or even a second ssd. :p

Bit overkill I think...

I'd say:
3770k
MSI Z77 mPower
H100i/NH-D14
16gb RAM - any brand really, 2133mhz
AX760i
GTX 670
Crucial M4/Samsung 830/Samsung 840
WD Hard Drive, size of your choice...

Then a case that you like. I'd recommend spending at least £70 on one.

As for the monitor, get a Dell U2412M or something like the Dell U2713HM as you should have the money left over.

...so?
Doesn't mean he wastes half of that in buying parts he'll never actually use to their fullest extent...

Exactly the reply I was looking for.

You don't have to spend 2000 pounds for a high-end computer, but in the end you hold the power. You could spend all your money and get the most expensive things that you will probably never use to half of their capabilities or you can get something good like the above. The power is yours!

I would sit tight any wait for the next generation of cards from nvidia. Shouldn't be too long now. What are you using at the minute?

Oh, no i DO want to overkill, why have money you dont spend? Basically, im after the best possible build i can get for £1500, and for storage, 240gb corsair Neutron SSD, and a 1tb hdd for unimportant stuff, and for the case, £150, maybe £200, then the rest of the £500 on a monitor, although monitor isnt as important, +Red/white case with led's is what im after, cant seem to find one :/
Also, quad core, or 8 core?

Right now im using a laptop, since i only just got into pc gaming and i thought im not going to get much use out of a laptop, so why not build my own..

Also, would water cooling be a possibility for a£1500 or not?

EXACTLY!! You hold the power!

Yes, im going for as much as a over kill as i can, £1500 on parts, then £500 on case, monitor, and £150-250 on keyboard, wires, and a chair :o

£500 on a case? Have you considered putting money aside for a therapist?

Edit: oooh, case and monitor. Phew, I was about to call the men in white coats.

At one point i was going to spend £450 on a case, but then i realized the case was bigger than the desk i plan on fitting it in, so yes, you may need to send the men in white coats :o

And also, small question, but razer or corsair for mouse, keyboard and headset?

Going overkill doesn't mean you have to be less efficient with your money. I'd still go with what James said but aim for 1440p gaming so splash out on a monitor (like the ASUS PB278Q) and think about getting 2x 4gb 670s or 2x 7970s.

2 7970's? Are they the ones at like £200 each? And all thats important to me is cooling, number of cores and ram, thats all i plan on overkilling, the rest can be effecient :p

Tbh I dunno if water cooling is worth it anymore. The 1155 ivys and the new graphic cards aint exactly on-fire like the 580 that used to burn my hand to touch! I would say if you water cool its more of hobby rather than a functional thing.

Get the pc build first and see whats what. Buy reference PCB graphic cards or a one that has blocks made to fit if you think you will head down that road.

Buying the most expensive stuff available isn't always better than everything else, getting the best asus mobo is going to be exactly the same as buying a MSI Mpower for half the cost(probably perform worse to.) If its 1440p gaming you wanna do then go for 2x 7970s:)

I agree with the watercooling comment said above that it's more of a hobby now. We are at the point in technology that everything is becoming cooler, faster, and smaller(hence smartphones) so watercooling will eventually juat die unfortunatly:(
