2 gigs and WoW

do memtest for the memory - if it's allright then its not your ram

do prime 95 for cpu - if it crashes here its your cpu

do a vpu stress test like 3dmark 03 - if this crashes its your gfx card

if all of these dont crash its most likely a problem to do with your motherboard

sorry we cant have incorrect information on the forums :)

memtest yes it is strictly for memory but prime95 and 3dmark will crash if your system in unstable due to ram or cpu or any combination on anything in your comp. only memtest is strictly ram but the other 2 can crash at anything. hope this helps clarify soem things hg007.

In place FFT's (lots of heat) will stress the CPU in Prime 95. Using blend test: stresses both CPU and RAM.

Prime does indeed test the whole system, but mostly the components listed, as well as the PSU.

S&M is a nicer test of the whole system :D

So Prime can be used to fosus on either actually ;)

2t - will it run with 1t?

That ram is specifically made to be able to run 1T @ 2-2-2-5. I'm guessing it's Plat. Rev. 2 which would be the same stuff I'm using. Try the suggested idea of bumping up the voltage to 2.8, that would be a quick and easy fix for you if it works. If you have a DMM pull it out and check to see what voltage ur ram is actually running at.

If none of that works, pull out the new ram and try again to see if WoW is working properly. If it does, pull out the old ram and put in the new ram and try again. If both pairs work fine when running 1gb at a time then it definately sounds like a voltage problem or a BIOS problem. Are you running a DFI nF4 mobo, you could be running into a compatibility problem with that memory when populating all 4 slots.

There's still a possibility that your new ram could pass MemTest and still be bad if the game locks up with just the new modules installed. Try all different configurations and see what you can come up with.

Also thinking about it: running 4 x 512mb sicks of RAM means that you HAVE to use it at 2T.

DFI forums have this well documented.

It can run at 400MHZ, but only at 2T :(

EDIT: Its a memory controller/chipset limitation :(

I was just thinking that, Kempez. Fraggle, your wrong buddy!

4x512MB = DDR400 2T, I THINK.

Whoa, wait. Shit guys, he has a Winchester.

That means, 4x512MB = DDR333, not sure if it's 1T or 2T. I'd keep it @ 2T.

See the Venice can run 4x512MB @ DDR400, 2T.

The Diego, not sure.

The X2's can run it all DDR400 1T.

I just got done a 2 hour session with WoW! The 2.8v seems to have fixed by problem! WOOTY WOOT WOOT Thank you guys. You are all the cat's pajamas. :worship:

Thanks again,

Now try it at 1T.

And no Nick, I wasn't technically "wrong" because those modules are rated to run at that speed with a 1T command rate. As stated it's a mem. controller problem, so the memory can do it no sweat, it all depends on ur surrounding setup :p

If it doesn't work with 1T what will happen? Not boot up?

I just got another gig of ocz 3200 2x512 2-2-2-5. So now I have 4x512 sticks of the same ram. After I added the 2 sticks my WoW kept freezing (hard lock) 5 to 10 mins into playing it. I changed my timings to 2.5-3-2-8 and I thought it was fixed but now it freezes 45mins to an hour in. Im wondering what else I can do? Should I raise the voltage to 2.8 and see what happends? Is it safe to do that? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Justin

MSI K8N Neo2 Plat

AMD 64 3500+

2 gigs 4x512 3200 ocz

6800 Ultra

500 Watt Ultra psu

Have you lowered your ram timings to T2. T1 in general does'nt work well with all four dimms filled. However you may have better luck with a venice core
