1UNetwork's Live Performance Computers

Here's my current rig.

It uses 3 x 4U ATX PC's all with Intel CPU/MoBo's.

They are boring and stock, but I will be building 3 x new 1U PC's using the Asus 785G EVO's.

They will work perfectly in a 1U because my PCI-e 1X Audio connector is all I will need in the slots of the Main PC.

Thanks to the Sideport RAM, I won't need a graphics card, hence the motivation to downsize.

I will be overclocking all of these AMD builds so I will be asking for tips here once I am finished with the builds.

Because I am a live performer I have to build this seperate from my live rig, and then it must be tested and ran for 72 hours w/o a hiccup. Then I will downsize the racks and dive into the 64 bit world.....:D

The mobo'swill be packed w/ 8GB's of RAM, and hopefully with help from guys here ( I know you kids are pretty smart ..) I will be running the RAM @ 1800MHz and a CAS 6-7 setting.

Below my soundcard is also a 1U ATX rackmount, and the pictured PCB had 6 x Analog Devices SHARC DSP chips, and 12 x AD21369 chips. Each of the new AD21369's is as powerful as a Dual Core Wolfdale running at 3.4GHz.

That sucker cost me 3500 USD.

Well hopefully some of you chaps will give me a hand at OC'ing @ 64bit w/ 8GB's in each PC.

I have a 1U QWERTY Drawer w/ a 4 Port KVM switcher for viewing all 3 x PC's.

The 1U DSP rack ( soundcard ) is all I need. The 3 x PC's are all connected via GigaBit LAN to a host application in the main PC.

My current rig has 3 x 4U Intel PC's, going down in size while increasing power is the logical choice, and each 1U PC will cost 1200 USD and that is really cheap considering my old 4U's were 3000 USD apiece.

Overclocking is something I have never done, but I have been lurking here for a long time, and have chosen this forum to be my knowledge base.

Please follow the instructions below when starting a new thread in the Rig Gallery Section.

Start a new thread with a meaningful title (e.g "XMS's Rig Gallery - Project Blah").

Resize your pictures to a reasonable size, and either use the forum attachment function to attach your images, or OC3D Uploads.

Edit your profile, adding the URL to your rig gallery in the box named "URL to Rig Gallery". This will display the Rig Gallery postbit icon below your username.

Any questions, please contact me or any member of the mod team.

Dayamn..................!!!!

Thanks Jim for allowing the Post.

I was unaware of the Proper protocols, it kind of gives me the creeps.

Reminds me of Uncle Sam tapping on my shoulder everytime I make a buck.

I will enjoy lurking and shall refrain from using any bandwidth.

Pcie slot going to allow a 1U install ? Figured that would be 2U atleast off the top of my head. Unless u got a right-angle bracket maybe.

Wondering how to cool this for oc'ing in a such a small space.

The kind of irritating small fan cooling I'm thinking off - u would definitely want to kvm into them from another studio->cubicle.

The 1U racks have side fans. 1U HSF and ventilated ports directly above the HSF. If they get too hot, I can get by w/o OC'ing, but I would like to have 1800 MHz RAM. That's where the data throughput is pretty much topped out at.

90 degree right angle riser card for the PCI-e 1X.

I could just use the connector w/o the riser too, as you can see the above pic, it is very tiny.

I did have some links for you to view the different parts mentioned in your post above, bit it seems like that isn't allowed either.........
