Hold up dude. If your going to Overclock, always set everything manually in the BIOS.
Allowing any program or "Auto" feature to do it all for you will only end up ultimately pushing more voltage through your chip then it needs too, potentially leading to all sorts of issues.

If you take the time to do it manually, you will gain further knowledge about your system and what you can and can't push. Plus a sense of personal achievement!

this overclock was with a1 suite asus program on my ranger 8 mobo should I not use that one although when I have done a bit more study I wll try the manual way

The issue with allowing "auto" overclocking is down to voltage. It will bump your multiplier and voltage based on "average chips" which often mean it will over volt the CPU. Using Asus I suite to clock my CPU to the same 4.5 Ghz on my CPU results in 1.38v with a BCLK increase of 4Mhz. My own OC has it stable with 45x100 @1.21v.

So as you can see, the voltage change alone is massive. I only ever let AI Suite do it to see how well/bad it would do the OC. I run 15c lower temps and +10% reduction in voltage.

Overclocks need to be done slowly and methodically to get the best results. There are several threads on the forum showing how to start and will help guide you through the process.

thanks I will not do that again I will try via tweaker. there is something that is bothering me, when I now boot up I get in big print [overclocked 20% does that just mean the time I used a1 suite, no fans are running so I assume its just a notice but I would like to no trying a overclock tomorrow want 4.6 that will do fine will set voltage low to start with thaks for relies

sativo why mate whats up,, have you had problems with it. I thought because it was part of my mobo system it was safe was watching the guy on u tube made it look good

kilbane I will set my voltage at 1.21 to c how I get on

^^^^Firstly we can posts one after another multi posting and its a bit frowned upon here. Just use the edit button for an update.

The software is ok for a beginner but we would suggest you just get used to making minor updates in the BIOS manually, it will put you on the right path from the start.
