1GHz Overclock and Happy!

She's running at 3.4GHz on water and seems pretty stable. I think this is about the area where my RAM gets a little sketchy, but I'll re-run memtest86 on it now I have a new BIOS.

I accidentally bought some new RAM which will allow me to find the CPU limit with a dropped multi to get some proper performance - then I can get some benchies in for the team :D

The 965 boards sometimes have fsb "issues" coming up to 400 FSB. Might be worth trying at 401 FSB (if your ram can hack it) and see if that helps. 401 is where the board switches chipset strap.

Hmmmm, how does one "accidentally" buy new ram then ?,and what is it ?

...and what is it?

It's some OCZ PC8000 with 4-4-4 timings :O

Now this stuff should help me along a little, so prooooty! I just can't stop stroking them...

Stop stroking it and show us how it goes.

...and done :p

This RAM runs just short of PC8000 at 4-4-4-12, I think it would do it if I had a fan over it and upped the volts a little.

I've manged to get the CPU to 4.8GHz 1M SuperPi stable, which managed to get 13.328 which isn't bad :D

Just gotta figure out how to squeeze some more out with this CPU limit on water...

That will be handy when I soon switch to phase, I've been running with the 12 and not 15 latency, but I'll give it a go with 4-4-4-15 and see what they can do :)

Nope, the system won't BOOT if I even touch that area of the BIOS. I swear this mobo is over sensitive! I've had to put my Patriot's back in to BOOT :(

Are the yellow slots better than the black or vice versa?

Did you have any problems BOOTing with these components?

My sticks have only been in the yellow also mate if you are worried about the double boot thing with yer mach2 just update the firmware to 937 I haven't had any problems with my mach since

And did you get 3.8 or 4.8 out of the chip??

This is on a water loop, it was 3.8GHz ;)

Hopefully I'll have a phase unit here shortly so the water can be used for the graphics and have phase on the CPU.

The damn RAM... I seem to be blaming it, so does everyone else all over the place. However, I don't believe it to be the RAM's fault - OCZ have been taking loads of stick from people because of this BOOT issue. I think it's actually because the P5B BIOS is really buggy :(

Mucho playing to be done now...

4:5 ratio doesnt really work on this board from what i`m seeing. The only successful 4:5 i`ve had has been around 460x8, 4:5. 1:1 and 2:3 work better, but those limit my RAM or CPU options.

Not tried the yellow slots yet...might help as they`re closer to the chipset???
