Intel are readying their next generation chipset for sample release around week 44 - 46. According to the news article, Bearlake G+ would be the first Intel chipset certified for HD-DVD, but not providing support for the Blu-Ray format. Do you see this as a deliberate snub by Intel, considering the Blu-Ray format was developed by the BDA (of which Apple, Dell, HP and many other large personal computing manufacturers are contributing members)? Feel free to comment below...

Maybe I'm ignorrent, but I can't see Blue-Ray making a huge impact for quite some time. £600 for an internal Blue-Ray drive? HD-DVD is gonna be about half that at the most.

Blue Ray is a format I do not think will take off.

An average person will hear "HD DVD" and understand it. "Oh yes DVD...but in High definition"

Whereas Blue-Ray is like "WTF??"

Yup, now you're thinkin' in a real world sense. We need to understand that 90% of the world is full of idiots who only go by name, color, looks, etc. Most people won't bother researching the two mediums. I totally agree that HD-DVD will definately be more consumer friendly.

but i think blue ray will be more beneficial for those who know their stuff - 50gb on disk  wow

It also looks nicer :p

suppose it also depends on ps3's success (or not)

Prefer them to push a sata optical, cd/dvd.

Increase the number of lazzzer heads.

Cut the price on dvds higher than 5g.

Whatever.
