120hz vs 60hz

Is there much noticeable difference between the two for monitors. Not really looking to upgrade, just been wondering and also if I ever do upgrade in the future

. I'm just asking because I've seen that Youtubers seem to use 120hz more often than 60hz. Is this just because it displays up to 120fps rather than just 60 which helps them in games?

youtube only displays at 60hz so uploading 120fps videos may be just to demonstrate what frames per second they are getting on a particular game with a particular card. as for differences, google it! it's been done to death so you can confirm this for yourself with corroborative evidence: 120hz is better than 60hz. it's blatantly visible from the moment your desktop loads. the mouse trail has double the mount of mouse cursors in it (and i suspect 240hz would be even better). but it's absolutely noticeable in even the smallest applications. don't hesitate about whether the difference is tangible or not - simply put, you'd have to be blind to not notice.

edit: ok, youtube displays at 60fps then, not 60hz

Hz is a measurement of how many times a pixel switches on and off a second so a 120Hz monitor will respond quicker to changes in picture than a 60Hz will

Okay. And by the way I didn't mean videos were smoother on YouTube itself, I meant because they game for a living, having a smoother game will help them play better etc?

Ive tested this using my 120hz monitor, I set a game to 60 hz, then set it higher. Wether it improves gaming skill I cant be sure but the difference in smoothness is really noticable.

When you get around 100fps from your graphics card its a joy to play games as even the scenery moving past is great to look at.
