120hz 29inch ISP 21:9 monitor?

M8 Pls

New member
So I have been looking at monitors for a rig I have planned later this year. I was looking for a monitor for school work but also to watch movies and some gaming. When I was looking at the ASUS MX299Q I came across this review on newegg. Anyone have any experience with this monitor or can anyone find any truth to it? I searched on the forum and couldn't find anything sorry if I missed it.

My dad has the standard 16:9 version of that monitor in a 27" version, The Asus MX279H 27", but pretty much the same model and they are awesome.
Input lag is maybe 2-4ms depending and I overclocked mine from 59Hz to 121Hz without much fuss :)

Yep :)

I used the Nvidia control panel to set a custom refresh rate and kept going until it said "No signal", Put it down by 1 digit and I have it stable at 121Hz :)

cool haha i didn't know you could do that, might have to give that a go. can you blow you monitor doing it though?

It can if you get silly, I put my refresh rate back to 60 as I really don't need more than that but I have the profile saved if I want to tinker around :)

Would this kind of overclock void your monitor warranty? Also I hope I don't get in trouble for asking in here but I was originally planning on going with a xfx r9 290 dd black for my build but now im thinking if im sticking with 1080p this may be overkill. What would be a better (cheaper) card for 120fps gaming for 1080p games that aren't too taxing unlike Crysis 3.

An R9 290 isn't overkill for 1080P, Especially if you turn up AA :)

Not too sure about the warranty to be honest bud.
