£1200 build Spec help

I'm looking for Full Graphics gaming for at least the next couple of years, i currently play on a 40" Sony Bravia (1920x1080) LCD. I don't require a mouse, keyboard, Monitor or Hard Drives.

This is what I've been looking at:

Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz

Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58

Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 12800C8

2x Asus GeForce GTX 460 1024MB DirectCU

Silverstone Fortress FT02B

Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium 7.1 / Gamer Extreme

Noctua NH-D14

Samsung SH-B083L/BSBP 8x BluRay ROM / 16x DVD±RW Drive

And would the power supply be enough to power this system?

And for the love of god, i can not find anyone who stocks the Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1 apart from a semi dodgy site.

Thanks.

The list Looks fine except you will deffo need a 750w PSU minimum for that system and a gtx480.

Id also say to look at some different cases dude, such nice hardware needs to be put in a nice case imho.

Cheers for the reply, do you have any suggestions on a case? The main reasons i like the P193 is the size of the case, the mounting support brackets for the larger Graphics cards and the split design allowing awesome airflow. I was going to change the stock Noctua fans and replace them with the new Silverstone AP121 and add a 3rd AP121 to the front for intake.

^ that.

Nice is good of course, better looking the better (that sounds stupid).

But nice as in more money and bigger is definitely better in this case (argh, words eh?)

You have chosen some pretty hot components and the PSU will also get pretty warm, so you will definitely need a case that can cool well. Especially with the 480 as otherwise you'll end up with something that resembles a microwave.

EDIT. Is that Antec really that big? It looks pretty small from the pics !

Edit. OK mate, seems you have about £100 budgetted for a case. Here are some reccs, but PLEASE bear in mind I have not used any of them, so hopefully by throwing some ideas out there others can form second opinions

Now I really like this.

http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=CAZ-GS1000SE&af=50

But, I have never used one or heard anything about it. I just love the look and it has tons of space. You can also get a nice hotswap unit that goes in the front. I have never used Zalman products before but I have heard how well made they are.

Second one is the HAF.

Now obviously it's quite easy to see why this one is so good, because the entire thing is meshed. I have heard good things about this, but I have not compared it to other cases. Again, same price.

Those are what I would look at, but of course I know nothing about the Antec you are looking at

Still, some ideas at least

I'm looking for a new case at the moment and think the top of the HAF looks flimsy & unfinished

also the side is really ugly with the mesh.

The only really nice cases I've seen (might be getting myself) are the silversone tj07 and the lin-li V2000/2110 I don't think they make the lian li's anymore tho

I nearly bought a corsair 700D but where is the airflow? no intake fans and a bare ugly front that looks like a cabinet

I think the antec 1200 looks ok also but I don't think it's worth £120

case wise i would go with ither a xigmatek utgard or a coolermaster ATCS 840

and then some decent fans as that 480 is gna pump some heat out

Oh yeah the HAf is bugly dude. Totally bugly. But if you are into pushing hard then it's performance over looks every time.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies.

I really like the look of the SilverStone TJ07 ( http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=tj07 ). It has the split design that i really like, looks like brilliant build quality and also has a load of room. Only negative for me is that side panel window. I'm not really into the whole neon light flashy business, so the window would concern me in regards to its poor insulation of sound and heat.

Maybe i'm over analysing it, i dunno.

What about the LIAN LI PC-B25F ( http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=366&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=62 )? Looks great and has a lot of great reviews.

In regards to the 480GTX, would it be a good idea to get a 3rd party cooler and replace the stock? Something like this Gelid Icy Vision ( http://www.gelidsolutions.com/products/index.php?lid=1&cid=17&id=52 )?

Hi mate case wise i would be tempted to run a antec 900 2 case. Really good airflow and comes with a side window to show off your shiny new hardware =) and at £72 will allow a bit extra cash towards other hardware. Here's the link.

Only a suggestion mind but may be worth a look. Good luck

Edit: coller wise for the 480 there aint that many good replacement coolers for air cooling but if your budget can stretch to it there is an option for air cooling. The GTX 480 Amp! Edition comes with a good cooler with good reviews and apparently is one of the only air coolers to tame the 480. £500 is a bit dear though!

Apart from that there is water cooling but thats a personal decision. Hope this helps

Pretty much with the 480 its water or nothing. Even with a water block and JUST one card on a 240mm rad the cards still hit 70-80c!

the blower fans are not as good as the centre fans fella

look at the gainward GS or the MSI cyclone

the MSI cools slightly better

Thanks for the tip, i will swap to either depending on the overall cost of the system.

Will the 750w PSU be enough to power the system?

And i dont suppose you have any idea where i could purchase a Azunetech soundcard?

Thanks.

prob the best cards are the asus direct cu's mate asd there coolers are epic if you have good airflow to not worry about the air gettin dumped into your case
