1100t overclocking - Heat issue

Hey Folks.

Looking for a little bit of help,

First of i'm new so go easy.

My rig

ASUS CROSSHAIR IV EXTREME ROG Edition 890FX Socket AM3 Extended ATX Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3 GHz Socket AM3 6MB Cache Retail Box Processor

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz CL9 1.5V Non-ECC Unbuffered

ASUS HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Dual DP Out Graphics card

Coolermaster HAF X Case

Coolermaster GX 750W PSU - 6x SATA 2x PCI-E 80plus Certified

Coolermaster V8

My processor is getting upto 60 degrees in prime95 testing. I stopped the test i didnt want it getting over 61.

Idle temp - 42

Load temp - 60+

Running on stock settings

Idle temp - 38

Load temp - 49

I've got the core speed upto 3900 but i'm not going to take it any further untill i've got a bit more understanding on the temp.

The settings i'm using are

Bus speed - 200.7

Multiplier - 19.5

Is it my settings?

Voltages are on stock at the moment.

I know the V8 isnt the best cooler but i cant see that being the problem?

Good specs of the system

Now we need bios settings to help you further.Multiplier and bclk isnt enough.

And with a good rocksolid rig comes a better psu.Corsair tx750 v2 is a big step or two upwards.

Silly me.

I think 3.9 is as far as i can get before adding voltage but as soon as i add voltage this is going to be getting very hot. Its allready on the edge.

Only suggestion i could think of would be to get a better heatsink, I originally suggested the NH-D14 however it won't fit with the vengeance's ridiculous heat spreaders and I can't think of a heatsink atm that would fit without causing any problems with the ram.

I'm quite tempted to take it out and re-apply with artic silver.

Big job though as the heatsink cutout on the haf x and the crosshair iv extreme dont match up so everythings got to come out to do it.

I just cant see it making to much difference.

I did consider that but the RAM is fairly tall.

If i have to replace it, it will be with water.

Hey up guys,

Update, I've got 4ghz out of it but with a couple of errors, I've lost my default values though for the processor.

I cant seem to find the max voltage, the stock voltages .etc.

I've ran in prime and managed to keep it arround 58. Which i know is high but i'm going to be having a look at this heatsink in the week and sorting that out so as long as i keep an eye on it, i'm not overly concerned at present.

The settings im on at the moment are

x20.0 on the multiplier

200.7 bus

2006.7 ht link

2006.7 nb

Are ht + nb the same thing? (NOOB question

)

I'm happy at 4ghz ...thats what i set out to achieve. Just need a hand stabalising it as i got a core 6 error in prime.

you wont get a stable OC of 4GHz+ at stock volts

you will need ~1.472v for the chip, and the NB-voltage will also need upping a little too

be careful when changing the multiplier as it will change the ram clock too - this needs to checked as well

Hi mate, I would try upping the cpu voltage to 1.45v and see if its prime stable, Those temps are high, when i tried 4.2ghz on my cpu i gave it 1.5v and under prime temps hit 54c and that's with the D14 on max.

Indeed, anything around 55c should be fine, for my cpu the max temp is "55 - 62" for the 1100T its 62c
