My 1400p monitor hasn't arrived yet and was wondering do you actually notice a difference going from 1080p to 1400p, A difference as in you can see it straight away in games *apart from the fps loss* or you have to look for it ?

IIRC the pixel density isn't that much different unless youre going from a 27" 1080p to a 15" 1400p monitor :). I don't really think you'll be able to tell them apart apart from very small text and details.

Edit: Just did some research and based on a 24" monitor, 1080p has ~92ppi while 1440p has ~122ppi, it is a slight improvment, but nothing like a galaxy S4 with about 441ppi.

I have a friend who just bought a 1920x1200 monitor and i can notice a slight diff. to my 27" 1080 screen. His icons on the desktop are smaller and look much better than mine do. His wallpaper (got the same as me) looks deffo better than mine does.

Well, you do have a lot more surface area on our desk top. Everything will appear to be a bit smaller. Difference in sharpness depends of the size of the monitors and the quality of the panels, as Maniac mentioned.

I just made a custom resolution via the Nvidia control panel to do a quick comparison between 1080 and 1440, To my eyes there's bugger all, First pic is 1080 and 2nd is 1440, Would the difference actually be worth it for games though ?

The reason it doesn't look like anything is purely because websites don't scale with all resolutions like games do.

Yes, there most certainly is a noticeable difference between 1080p and 1440p.
