BFG Physx card

As shown at CES 2006, this is the new BFG Physx card, and if you haven't already gathered, is a PPU, (physics processing unit) and acts as a co-processor to the cpu and is dedicated to processing the physics of a game's engine, while the cpu does the other parts.

The cards PCI-E, and at the moment there are no plans for a standard PCI one as it cannot handle the sheer bandwidth that the card would need.

The chip for which is made by AGEIA, and so for games to be able to utilise it they must be programmed in AGEIA SDK, the first of which will be UT 2007. To give an idea of the raw processing power of the card, it is more powerful that two dualcore opterons, and it will also have 128mb of ram.

There are some pics in the pcpop gallery - here

Yeh, its meant to be in the $249-$299 price range, which isn't bad when you compare it to the price of the FX60 .
