The History of my cheap rig!

This is how I first built it and without any upgrades. Yes, it was a value build. Heads the 1155 with an i5 750 and a HD5850.

When my GPU started to cave I bought a used 5850 from a friend.

At the same time I also upgraded my CPU cooler so that I could overclock it.

With some extremely bad cable managment I got the system going again.

Then a couple of days ago I decided to upgrade some more stuff. I bought a new SSD, HD, GPU, Soundcard and Case.

I did some much needed cleaning and service as well =P

Cleaned, installed and upgraded it looks like this in my new Fractal Design Arc.

Keep in mind that this is a cheap value system guys, almost all the parts are bought second hand and used. I got a more powerfull rig on my bench atm. which will become my new system when I got the money to finish it.

I must say though that I am mighty surprised of how good my i5 750 chip is. I've had it running at 4,3Ghz @ 1,3v now for over two years, and it's still in decent shape. Together with my GTX580 this rig plays most games without any problems or lag.

Current hardware as of today:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3
Processor: Intel i5 750 @ 4,3Ghz
Memory: Some cheap crucial 1600Mhz with CL7 (8Gb)
Graphics: Zotac Geforce GTX 580
Sound: Asus Xonar DX
Powersupply: Chieftec 650 Modular
HD: Western Digital Black 500Gb, Seagate 2TB
SSD: Crucial M4 64Gb, Kingston HyperX 3k 120Gb
Cooler: Noctua NH-CP12 SE14
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi

Thanks for taking a look!

I would still love to have you're rig mate (Folding in mind),
hell, even for gaming... i would still like that rig

Enjoy it !!
greetings , Ray......

Looks much better in the fractal, shame about that mobo colour it makes the rig look dated

looks really nice. I really like small color accents when done right and in this case i think the colors work perfectly. i really like the shade of blue on the motherboard, and i like the yellow fan at the back. the color really works incredibly well here imo and it's a really nice change from the usual stuff you see these days. also it looks really tidy and good in the new case--nice work there. i also know those 1156 & 1366 chips are amazing things i still have a i7 920 and it will do 4.5ghz and easily 4.2ghz 24/7. probably even 4.3 or 4.4 ghz 24/7 but thats pushing it. it pumps out amazing cinebench scores as well.
