Getting a new GPU

Hi

I am planning to get a decent GPU over the next couple of weeks and I have a few questions. First of all, this is my current setup:

CPU: Intel Core I7 2600k 3,4Ghz
GPU: Ati Radeon HD 6450 1GB
RAM: 8GB
Mainboard: Asrock z68 extreme3 gen3
PSU: BeQuiet Straight Power E9 400W
Windows 7 64Bit

Currently I am very interested in the MSI GTX 970 4GB Gaming. Sure thing is, that I will need a new PSU. Wich one would you recommend? I wouldn't want it to cost any more than 100€. Does the rest of the setup fit the requirements? Also I am not so sure about the GTX 970, with its VRAM problems. Should I go for it anyway, or should I perhaps even wait for the upcoming AMD cards?

Thanks in advance for your answers :-)

The 970 is a fantastic card for the price, you can get great deals on 290s if vram is that br a deal to you. Also the corsair rm series psus i can recomend too

Thanks for the quick replies
@Vault-Tec 1920x1080 is absolutely enough for my needs
@Tripp How much wattage would you recommend?

To be honest, you would be fine even if you didnt upgrade your PSU. Its not that bad.

If you have the extra dough to spend, then by all means go for a nice 500-750W PSU for good measure.

As for the Vram issue, at 1080p you will be fine, most of the so called problems people were reporting werent actually a due to the vram allocation.

As for the PSU, have a look at these ones:

Seasonic SSR-550RM

Corsair RM Series 550-Watts

The BeQuiet 630W is adequate as a PSU, just not great.

I am borderline on your current PSU being suitable. Might do it might not just one of those where i recommend to friends or family to go bigger and better.
As for the 970 get it. they are getting cheaper and cheaper atm and going to be even cheaper when the new amd cards come out. And 1080p you shouldn't run into any Vram issues i certainly haven't.

Hi Peeps, I need your advice. I am thinking of replacing my three 780ti gaming cards with two Titan X cards. My question is, should I go with the Titan X cards now, or wait for the 980ti cards?
Many thanks one and all.

Wait for the 980ti, or more specifically the Radeon. If HBM is what I'm thinking it could be AMD could kick ass.

But yeah, don't buy Titan X now.

Ok so I just got a good offer for the gtx 970 from EVGA. Two things: 1. Is it good? 2. Is the RM 550W PSU sufficient?
Thanks in advance!

Yes it is, a 290x/390x is faster though. I'd check to see if the prices are close enough to the offer they gave you. But yes 550watt is enough

I recently went from a 770 to a 970 and man, I love it! It's so much faster, better and way smoother! I can definitely recommend it!

PSU should be fine. My work rig has an MSI GTX 970 and a terrible stock 400W PSU and it's never blue screened, even when running things like Elite Dangerous or Unreal Engine 4 and Oculus Rift. Though down the road I think bumping it up to a 600W would make sense as then you could start to OC, one of the best features of the Maxwell chip.
