Is a thermo pa120.3 enough?

Right, with me pretty much set on getting a 4870x2 + block ive got to decide what the rest of the loop is going to be.

Whats going to be cooled, E8600 @ 4.5+ (depends what it will get to) & a 4870x2.

What ive got planned is a Laing DDC Pro + XSPC Res top , Thermo 120.3, a XSPC Delta v3 OR Heatkiller v3?? and a 4870x2 block that im buying with the card.

Does the above sound good enough and will a Thermochill pa120.3 be enough or would another 120.2 be needed? As i have enough room in the front of my cosmos to mount a 120.2 if i take out the hdd cage and possably without taking it out it wouldnt be to much of a hinderance to fit it in there.

Set up should go - Pump > Rad > CPU > GPU > Pump -, unless i get the 120.2 aswell then - Pump > 120.2 > gpu > 120.3 > CPU > Pump -??

I'd say that's pushing it for a single rad, it'll definitely cool it but you'd probably have some pretty high temps restricting your overclocking headroom.

If you can do it then dual loops are definitely a much better option and give you room to grow if you want to upgrade in the future. It's all down to how much you want to spend really.

Whatever route you choose, be sure to post up lots of pics for us all!

So adding the 120.2 ontop of the 120.3 wouldnt help much unless it was in a seperate loop?

A dual loop setup is nearly out of the question atm with my current funds , i can stretch to add the 120.2 in on top of the rest of the loop atm thus why i was asking if just adding it in would help with the temps for now.

For the time being i wouldnt mind running it in a single loop (cpu + gpu + 120.3 + 120.2) and then possably splitting it down to a dual loop if needed or when i can afford the 2nd pump aslong as it will help the temps.

Basicaly, what sort of difference would having the 120.2 (for cpu) and 120.3(for gpu) in 2 loops acheive temp/cpu OC wise over a single loop with both rads in??

The main point of this is to keep my system quiet tbh (as the 4870x2 is a noise machine), keeping the cpu under around 65c load @ 4.5+ is a bonus but aslong as it can get to 4-4.25 (what im on now with this freezer 7 pro) im happy for the time being.

Naaa that would be fine with the right fans dude. It will be at its limits though. Only get a 2nd rad if you go seperate loops.

mmm ok tom, ill just put the x2 on its own 120.3 for the time being once i get it , and then when i get the money for a 2nd loop put the cpu on that with its own 120.2 .

Now onto fans, Thermo's work well with the Xilence redwings/med speed yateloons dont they?

Probably go for the xilence as there realy quiet (got 1 in my parts box somewere) , tho the red led loons would be nice but there twice as loud =\

Quick edit: From WCUK total basket would be £190 for DDC Pro with res top, Thermo 120.3, 3x Xilence redwings, 2m 1/2" ID Clearflex hose, 10 jubiliee clips and 2x 32 oz primochill ice (would 1 bottle be enough?)

If you wanted to save some monies, I've got a thermo 120.3 rad for sale but it's the old spacings.

As for if the Redwings work on it, they work fine. I had mine running with them for well over a year.

You'll have the same cpu / gfx combo as me soon.

I would do the reverse if your going to separate them which I would not bother too much actually as the 120.3 will do nicely even at those clocks. If you want to save money then just keep it with the one rad (just use a push/pull fan configuration if you can). Try it out and you will see that it works great especially if you use the HK 3.0.

Mmmm thanks for the offer but my cosmos will only fit the 15mm spacings without modding so ill probably get one new.

What temps are you getting on the cpu & gpu both loaded with it all in one loop btw??

Im 90% sure i can get the cpu stable at 500x9.5 (4.75) prety easy, it was fine with p95 for 15 mins no errors but its not long enough to say its 100% stable,to bad it was so toasty other wise i woulda ran it longer(wish id got a cpuz validation of it aswell).

Aslong as i can get 4.5 24/7 im happy tho.

Push pull makes next to no difference if you actualy test it, probs 2c at VERY best. 1 rad will be fine like I said before especialy where you dont have much money dude.

Yup, Toms right, I don't reckon push pull will have much affect at all.... I've got high speed Panaflo fans on my rad at the minute and there is very little difference in cooling performace between having them at 5V and full whack at 12V which has to be equivalent to sticking an extra 3 fans on there as those fans are like hurricanes when on full.

As for how my loops is doing... Well I don't have my GFX watercooled as the blocks were expensive when I bought the card, and I don't find it very loud with the fan set to 35%. Think default is 28%.

The E8600 still dumps a crazy amount of heat though... When I had it up at 4.9 GHz it was getting into the 70's. I have it settled at 4.4GHz as I can have that at 1.2V rock solid with reasonable heat at something like 55-ish degrees under full load. If I bump it up to 4.5 - 4.6 GHz then I've gotta stick something like 1.3V through it and then while stress testing, the temps rocket up to high 60's.

ahh, fair enough, odd that its still so high =\

Im just waiting on the guy to get back to me about the x2 then i should be set.

Yup... I thought so too so I changed my whole loop pretty much from my old spacings thermo, standard xspc top and EK supreme over to the new loop of new spacings thermo, xspc restop and xspc Delta V3.

Oh yeah I do have my NB in my loop though... Forgot about that. X48 might add a little heat to the mix but not too much.
