Problems with my new rig

Hey guys,

I finally got all the parts for my new rig and now I'm having trouble getting it to run. I installed Win 7 pro x64 from an usb stick, but when the PC reboots after the installation and tries to finish it, I get a BSOD that goes by too fast to read it. After that whenever I try to reboot back to Windows, I get and error saying:

The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click OK or restart the computer then restart the installation.

I've tried to reinstall Win7 coupla times now, both times I got the same result. Also before getting my SSD (which I'm using for the OS) I tried running my old HDD on the rig. It booted up nicely the first time, but after that I got BSOD's everytime Windows started.

So at this point I'm thinking something is broken, but I don't know what. Any suggestions on what to do?

Parts used:

Sabertooth x58 (with the latest BIOS)

Corsair Dominator 6GB

Intel i7 960

GTX 570 Phantom

Noctua NH-D14

OCZ Agility 3 SSD

Corsair AX 750

Did you remove the USB when the install restarts for the first time because if you leave it in it will cause problems.

OK this time I got a BSOD during the installation:

The system encountered an uncorrectable hardware error.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x00000124

This is the same error I kept getting with the old HDD, that is currently working on the PC I'm using atm. Any ideas?

not sure if this will help or related. But I had a similar issue doing a XP install on my lil ones rig. Finally got around to googling the stop code and it turned out since I upgraded the rig I needed to slipstream sp2 into the install. And it worked perfectly. I googled ur stop issue and it came back as instability so I might suggest you put it to stock (assuming you have it oc'd atm) and see what happens.

The 0x00000124 error is the Hexadecimal format of the error caused. This is common error code format used by windows and other windows compatible software and driver vendors.

This code is used by the vendor to identify the error caused. This 0x00000124 error code has a numeric error number and a technical description. In some cases the error may have more parameters in 0x00000124 format .This additional hexadecimal code are the address of the memory locations where the instruction(s) was loaded at the time of the error.

what if anything is after the stop error code???

do you have windows on cd??? have ya tried installing that way??? just some thoughts

Stuck the SSD to this PC, managed to install Windows from a CD with no problem. Booted it up, everything was working as it should.

So I tried it again with the new PC, and got the same BSOD right after logon. After that it just kept rebooting without even showing the BSOD. Went too fast again. Wasn't able to catch the hexadecimals at the end.

ok now time to trouble shoot try one stick of ram at a time singly at first and watch for bsod if it does it with each stick then try another slot if that continues you have bad memory most likely this is going to be a long process of trouble shooting so be patient and in the end you'll know whats what

Tried each of the sticks one by one. On first try only two of them worked on one slot, but still got the BSOD/reboot. On the third round every stick seemed to work, so I put em all in. Booted to Windows, then it crashed again while I was installing GFX drives. Rebooted, managed to install the drives, then it went back to restarting on it's own.

I tried taking a pic of it, but the quality was just too bad to read anything of it. Only have a shitty phone cam.

Edit: It was up for about 5mins after all the memory stick testing. Dunno if that helps or not.

sounds like a power issue to me are you sure you have both mobo power plugs plugged in??? do you have another psu you can swap out and try??? like I said its a long tedious process of trouble shooting now

Both mobo power plugs are plugged in. The upper one has some kinda plastic thingie blocking half of the slot though. Should I try and take it off and plug both connectors in?

I also managed to get a minidump file from the pc. Dunno if it helps but uploaded it here anyways: http://hotfile.com/dl/119133003/c1f926d/052811-11481-01.dmp.html.

Edit: Managed to get the hexadecimals this time: 0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA80068AA028 0x00000000B6000000 0x0000000000000115

Using a SATA 6GB cable.

Got another BSOD with 0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA8006814028 0x00000000B6000000 0x0000000000000115.

take it all apart and rebuilt it again

do it in stages, so that BIOS finishes post, and you are prompted for an OS disk.

Booted up the Windows again and didn't touch anything, it was up for about half an hour before it crashed again. After the crash got an error saying the bootmgr was missing :/

Should I take the CPU out too? I disconnected everything but the memory, cpu and gfx card and got the promt for a boot device.

Hi, have you tried running memtest86 to see if there is any possible memory problems?

1)If so and had encountered some errors, try checking in the bios if your RAM is set correctly because on my older rig the BIOS default settings, has set the voltage too low and incorrect latency timings aswell which had similar problems

he cannot do memtest86 cos he cannot get into windows

i think it is your SSD

have you tried changing from IDE to ACPI in BIOS?

Changed the memory timings to the ones on the sticks now. Got into Windows again, waiting for the next crash <.<

I don't think it's the SSD cause I have no problems with it when I put it inside my old rig. Also the HDD from the old rig crashed the same way before I got the SSD.
