Desk's a little on the crappy side.

Nice and tidy, and floor cables aren't threatening to engulf you...I like it! Alos, I quite like that neon sunset effect in the case.

Gotta love that case, nice and slick looking.

One thing I have noticed is that your lacking a mousepad - Trust me, they really make a difference!

lol I haven't used a mouse mat in about 2 and a half years.

I can't do without mine now...I use a steel series aluminium mouse pad...never knew how much difference it could make...then again £30 is a lot

When I don't use a mousepad, the skates of my mouse manage to gain big black clods of dust which decreases the manouverability. It stopped gathering when I got a mousepad so its more than worth the £20 I payed for it.

I actually got an alluminium one with the case but what I did with it is a mystery now.

I'm surprised no one commented on the Dell keyboard I have. :p

You asked for it... "that keyboard is the same as the ones we have at college".

Nah, very nice setup... could we have some inside piccars? :p

Thanks.

About that keyboard, I decided to keep it for the media buttons, and it's grand to game on.

Here's more... :p

For the CPU I'm getting:

25-30C Idle

50-55C Under Load

(The highest temperature I saw after a 48hr stint of Prime95 was 55C)

For the GPU with the Fan set manually to 40% I'm getting:

45-50C Idle

60-70C Under Load

Nice looking rig.

If ur unhappy with the desk, u could do a simple sand-down and varnish. Should be a cheap alternative to a new desk ;)

Yeah I could do that, but finding the time and effort these days is a big problem.

Actually the desk is not too far off being as old as me, but it's still going strong, just a little few scratches here and there....

48Hours? I hope you found it was stable after that!

Yeah it's stable. I've the Voltage set to 1.1625V in the BIOS. No warnings on any of the cores. I was working late at them time, just turning it on one night and came back to it two days later. :)

I tried out the IntelBurnTest (Which takes a lot less time) aswell, says it's fine.

The very odd time when I turn it on I get the Message "Overclock Failed", but a simple reboot and it boots up fine. I think a newer BIOS might remedy that (Might also let me break the 475MHz FSB barrier), which I'll try the next time I go home which unfortunately might not be for a few weeks.

Wow, those Vcores are low...I think I need something insane like 1.35625 (yes that many d.p.) to get 4GHz...then again, I think the QX9770 is basically intel's competition to a 280GTX in terms of home heating.

I don't think I would have the nerve to run my PC for 48 hours straight...it caught fire once

Yeah, I'm amazed at how much I can undervolt this chip. :)

I did need to crank it up to about 1.28V (if I remember correctly) to get to 3.8GHz, which is the highest I can get XP to boot with. Vista and Ubuntu lock up at that speed. XP locks up pretty erratically at that speed, I think it's because XP is kind of stupid - it'll boot and then all of a sudden realize it can't operate and lock up.

My room does get quite warm with no open windows or doors with it Priming. I don't think I'll need to bother with central heating over the Winter lol.

Just turn on Prime and leave it run all the time. (It runs at the lowest priority so it doesn't effect anything else) :D

I'm interested (or maybe nosy is more accurate :p ), would you mind elaborating?

Thought someone might...

Well, it was when I installed a new sound card, I unplugged the front audio header, then plugged it back into to the old card, leaving both cards in. Unfortunately, I had been busy with a file, making some water cooling holes in the case big enough for an external neon switch, thus introducing aluminium particles into the case. The audio header has an AC97 and HD Audio headers on it. I had the HD attached leaving the AC97 out. The aluminium particles built up on the cable driectly beneath the hole and shorted the header while listening to music.

The cables are pretty thin so they got very hot and ignited the insulation. No real damage done, a bit of insultaion tape and a compressed air can sorted it all, but it was on fire and smoke seemed to be coming out of the GPU so I was bricking it.

Moral of this is...make sure you remove any possible shorting material...d'oh

Makes for a great anecdote..."oh yeah my pc caught fire the other week"

Liking the inside gut pics, DAMN i love the look of copper on motherboards, mmmmm...nearly bought a new board just so i could see new copper hs'!!

Nice rig there bud, cant go wrong with a sturdy desk, then again, i love my glass and steel setup (mainly cos it was cheap so meh) but as long as it is strong enough to stand on when dusting in the house and moving things then hey.

Always best to learn the hard way. ;)
