the cpu bracket on this mobo is the tightest one i've ever seen (mind, i've only mucked about with 4 lga 775 and 2 am3/am3+ sockets before). i put the 3570k in the mobo and pushed the arm down, and the arm bends a LOT. there's a bit of that sound you get when you bend the mobo too much (crackling kinda sound). also when i take the cpu out, it's got dents in the ihs where the bracket's been holding it in, showing some of the copper underneath?! xD what the hell?? is this normal?

thanks

pics???? shouldnt mark up the cpu any at all. Are you sure you had it oriented correctly?? did you bend any of the mobo pins??? Pics would really help on this one.

The tightness and the crackling sound are normal, the dent's in the IHS seems like maybe you have one that is over tight, shouldn't be a problem though.

thanks. probs making a mountain out of a molehill, but still those sounds and that bending and those dents... first time i've come across that. i was using intel stock cooler, and it had been mounted for a day. the intel push-pin hs went in without any force though, unlike normally. not sure what relevance that has. anyway here's a pic - the dings on the right and left are copper coloured in real life (camera is a potato)

oops... here it is. and yes, the cpu was oriented correctly. not worried about the marks, it's more about whether i'm doing the cpu any long-term damage

edit: apparently it's ok. overreacted ^^
