Hi,
Just need some help to find what z77 MB to get basically im getting a two upgrades for xmas hopefully.

Pc setup at the moment

AMD Phenom X6 1090T Black Edition OC@ 4.2GHz
Asus Crosshair V Formula
16GIGS Ripjaws
Asus GTX680 2bg
600T White Edition
Corsair HX 850W power supply
H100 with SP120 Corsair Fans Quiet Edition

The two componets I want to upgrade is CPU, Motherboard of course Im getting a i7 3770K and not sure what motherboard to get The thing is I want something like the V Formula same price range or same quality. Im upgrading because I want to have the best Gaming experience possible plus this will be my first INTEL CPU so hopefully I will see a change going from a AMD Phenom X6 1090T to a i7 3770K.

I have a couple of motherboards But not sure
MSI Z77 MPower Intel Z77- Ive heard that Msi is a cheap make thats whats making not go with them.
Asus Z77 Sabertooth Intel Z77- Everyone gets this board so it should be a logic to get it haha

I just want some feedback Thanks guys if you could I just registered so Hopefully this forum is better than Others.

First off - MSI is NOT a cheap make. And for Z77 they make the very best motherboards.
Go for a Z77 mPower, or Z77a-GD65.

Secondly, what do you use the rig for?

'I want to have the best Gaming experience possible'

Gaming, Web, Watching Blu rays but 99% of the time will be gaming.

lol, sorry - it's late. I only skim read it ;)

If you're just gaming, there's no need whatsoever to get the i7. Go for the 3570k instead.
The only difference between the two is hyperthreading which no programs except video rendering will use, so there's no point in you getting the 3770k.

Spend your money elsewhere - not that anything else in your rig needs upgrading.

haha Its fine :D

But In the long run 3770k Will be better right, Its just going from a AMD phenom x6 1090t to a i5 doesnt seem good enough for me if you get me But thanks for the information.

I was just looking at your rig and looking at the MB -ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe Its got loads of USB's haha is it good ? Its on amazon for £179

"I want to have the best Gaming experience possible plus this will be my first INTEL CPU so hopefully I will see a change going from a AMD Phenom X6 1090T to a i7 3770K"

I think you'll see a very nice change on the cpu upgrade when it comes to gaming. The Intel cpu will be a nice fit with ur 680 gpu :) But, if you're not doing any edition or other cpu heavy software. You should save some $ and go with a i5 :)

Before going to mine, I had a Phenom 965, so our performance jumps will be virtually the same. There's like 50% difference per core from Phenoms to Ivybridge. Even though there's less cores there, it's a far faster processor.

When I bought mine, I did it for my 18th. Only reason being for getting the 3770k was because it was an i7. I just wanted 'the best' of what I could afford tbh. Buying again now, I wouldn't have bought the 3770k. It's just pointless to have hyperthreading.

To answer your question though - it's unlikely games will use the cores in the future, but no one can really say for sure. Games these days are running way more off the graphics grunt than the CPU power. Not even much difference at all between a £100 i3 and an £800 3970x in gaming. You'll find very few games these days that use more than 3 cores. I can't see that changing any time soon. And if it does - chances are you'll have upgraded again by then anyway.

Regarding the motherboard - I bought mine because I thought I needed WiFi on it. Buying again now, I'd get the mPower. Nothing wrong with the board at all - it's really good actually, can't even fault it at all. But it just has so many features that realistically you will never use.

You don't need to spend loads on Intel to get great performance. Save the money on a motherboard and processor, and I dunno - get a new keyboard, mouse, mousemat or soundcard/headphones or something instead. It just honestly isn't worth wasting money on a 3770k for gaming.

Thanks man That really helped I really Just want a i7 Thats all really haha But maybe I will go for the i5 And I will get the mpower looks sick it will go nicely in my case, Thanks again man I just might need to get rid of the i7 on my xmas list haha. Im the one who is buying the motherboard hehe :)

Just looking now the 3770k is £239 worth it or not ?? this is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Gener...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1355187876&sr=1-1

No worries. Glad I could help.

It's a fair enough reason tbh - I thought the same :)

Thanks.

I tell what the only game atm that uses your cpu loads is Planetside 2 I play that alot with a clan my FPS on that game sucks ass so im hoping this upgrade will fix it.

yeah, if it is just for gaming, an i5 will be best for you cause the i7 will give you no gaming advantage, there no shame in getting an i5 over an i7, physically they are exactly the same processor inside, intel just have reduced the cache on them and such and have less threads but all that wont matter to gaming. i5's are brilliant for gaming and general use, your 680 will be doing most of the work, overclock that for best gaming result, my asus 680 runs at about 1200mhz on the clock, i dont have a TOP edition so it cant handle anymore than that without going to BSOD.

as for the motherboards, you could easily save money again and go for a cheaper motherboard like the P8-Z77, it will overclock nicely if ever you want to for the sake of it even though it wont affect gaming and it comes with good features and a good UEFI. if it just for gaming then overclocking ability and features wont matter to you so much so its down to looks really, i dont like the sabertooth, the ASUS ROG boards are much nicer but a bit more expensive.

Also get an SSD if you dont have one cause it will speed up load times.

for the best experience my perscription would be:
i5-3570k
MSI MPower or ASUS V Extreme
2133 RAM

if i were buying:
i5-3570k
MSI MPower
2133 RAM

stable 4.6 overclock, speedy RAM (minimal over 1600 RAM) and enough power
phases to make it wonderfully stable.

I really recommend the msi Mpower over anything else, it has a lot of features, it looks slick and i think it has the best value compared to other boards which scream with overclocking ready, and it most certainly doesnt need 2 noisy 40mm fans like the z77 sabertooth.

I can only say that the Mpower is good, i have the it my self and i will not go any place else.

And i can say my self, that i5 will do you fine in a gamer rig and i will go that way my self vs my i7 i most say.
