Z390 question

Hey guys,

So I’ve been having a hard time finding an straight answer here... Does a 8700K work in an Z390 motherboard? More specifically the ASUS MAXIMUS X Formula.

And if yes, does it require a BIOS update? Or is it more like backwards compatible, such as an USB 3.0 port works with an USB 2 stick.

All PCBs and from Bios Revision 0220 which was the Bios the board was released with.
