Yorkfield ES are around

Not many of them though.

Details:

775 socket but NOT compatable with current 775 boards.

12MB L2 cache, L3 unknown

Native Quadcore

CPU-Z doesnt recognise it but shows clockspeed of 3.7GHz. It is NOT currently known if this is a mis-read or not.

Mobo is a work-in-progress, so no benches yet

Details ripped from posts from Hicookie on OCX (Cheers Bro!) :D

One of them should give a massive leap in performance! Now we just need to figure out how to get one to bench for the team...

if it was a BIOS issue.. IMHO they wouldnt have made a point of talking about compatability. Also, seeing as the board is an ES, that also hints at it not being that simple...a BIOS with updated CPU code is easier to roll out than a board.

Dunno. I`m reading between the lines.

Interesting - 12MB cache (shared I guess), does it have a L3 cache as well?

Sounds powerful already, even with no marchitecture enhancements of core 2 - I am guessing 45nm?

With the mobo being a work in progress, any figures we see now are in fact a warost case scenario - good old hicookie.

Any more news on that clockspeed, that is quite interesting IMO, we all know that the core 2 architecture is overclockable, and if Intel can get speeds up this high then i guess this, along with a price cut, would cause problems for AMD.
