SOURCES HERE claimed that Intel will have difficulty shipping its Yonah in the fourth quarter, which was supposed to be the time period that we'd see the wonders of the new Intel mobile architecture. The same sources claimed that a shortage of Sonoma chipsets persists in the marketplace. But the reason for that isn't any difficulty in manufacturing, but more a question of strategy.
If there are problems with Yonah, it is probably much to do with the inherent design of the Pentium M.
The problem is that Intel has a window of opportunity to sell Sonoma, but nevertheless Yonah is a better proposition in the long run.
We're unable to talk to Intel about this at press time because of the lateness of the day in Old Taipei, but will contact the firm tomorrow.
