Yo guys,

Not had the money to get myself a decent gaming rig due to being a poor Computer science student...

Finally got some money and lookin to get goin again and build myself a nice rig...

Any idea why I cant send PM's guys?? Theres a few bits of the FS section I wouldnt mind makin offers on! :)

Thanks and Hola!

Dan

Lol, Just read the sticky...

Seems its 50 posts before I can PM.... Despite being a member for a year now! :(

Can someone please enable me, otherwise I've got some spamming to do and I dont want to do that!

Dan.

Haha! Hello dan! Well U'r almost up there!! I've got a way to go yet! This is massively distracting me from My revision for my C++ exam resit tomorrow! Only thing stopping me from graduating! lol

Hey there,

Dont really think Jim will welcome to you spamming around the forum just so you can PM.

Maybe check out so other topics and actually contribute something.

Anyway welcome to OC3D!

Hyper ;)

Yeah, thats why I've only been posting in this thread, was a joke... Have another read. To be honest contributing something isnt that easy because I'm so out of touch with the new hardware having not been able to upgrade for a few years now being at uni...If I just wanted to chat crap to people i'd go on Facebook!

This seems like a pretty good place to get going again and get a system built, perhaps then I will have something to contribute, but until I source the parts (which is hard when I cant PM or post in the f/s wanted section) my knowledge is limited to obsolete stuff... + some programming stuff which isnt really the scene here!

But thanks for the welcome...

Why not stick a post up stating what you are wanting to use your computer for and nicely asking other members to spec you a computer build in your specified price range.

Then you know what parts you need and can start sourcing them using many online shops or even Ebay.

Just a thought :)

No, cheers... Is a good thought... Thanks..

I will do that! Have a couple of exams this week, so will get on it early next week...

Have a pretty good idea of what I need / want,

Want a couple of 9800GTX's or a GX2, think the Gx2's are around £150 now so prob best bet..

Then a decent Oc'able Am2 or 775 board around the £50 - 100 mark,

A Q6600 or equiv Phenom around the £100 mark...

And some Fast DDR2 Ram...

Shouldnt need a new case or PSU or anythin else really as have a suitable Coolermaster case.... and a 600w PSU...

Think that comes in around the 300-400 mark and should do me for the newer games... Then as the cash comes in get some watercooling etc on the go..

What u think? :)

I am not the best person to ask at the minute since I have been out of the scene for a few months now which is a long time in computer terms.

I am sure someone with a bit more upto date knowledge can advise you better than I can.

As I say, create a seperate topic and you will get all the help you need.
