hi,

I want to tune my cpu, I want to set it to a safe oc that will not risk anything, I dont want insane numbers but I do want my money's worth.

I have the nhd-14 etc. on my bios on the asrock extreme3 gen 3 I have the following settings, currently all on auto, can I get some advise on a safe starting point please,

cpu core voltage (on fb tom logan told me absolute max 1.4v, but I don't want to take it too close to the edge if it will shorten the life of my silicon)

cpu load line calibration option 1-5/auto

dram voltage

pch voltage

cpu pll voltage

vtt voltage

vccsa voltage

Im sure that you have seen hundreds of posts like this but I cant seem to find out clear info.

just up ur multi til it crashes or wont boot alot of folks seem to get about 4.5 around 1.28 volts

but only managed to get to 43 multi on full auto settings, i want to test with manual etc, i just dont llike auto things

all you should really have to change is the vcore a tad what are you aiming for ??? 4.5GHz?? if so up vcore .1 and see what she does.

ok, had some issues, updated bios. tested it, booted up fine, upped oc slighty, booted fine, upped oc slightly, during boot had a power cut, crashed my raid setup (z68 cached ssd) have had to re-install win7, cos of crash win wouldnt recognise my hdd setup in raid mode... have had to go back to using my 60gb ssd as boot drive etc. nvm. ill try playing with the oc when i get a litle more time next week, only getting 1 day out of 12 days when im not working a 12 hour night shift is affecting my play time

but oh well, if we want nice things we gotta work for em.

to be honest im not exactly unhappy with the 4ghz im at now, still way more powerfull than the old phennom2 x2 550 @3.7

yeah intel stock 2500k is a vast improvement over that and imho ssd cache thing is garbage i tried it and never saw any real gains and i had so many crashes as well.

i wouldnt say garbage(lol). for the 4 days it worked it did speed up loading times in cod/wow/bf3

lol yeah i did see load times being faster but by garbage i mean its down more than its up. But i just went to straight SSD Raid and I'm flying now

ok, been playing, on 1.39 now @ 4.4 prime has been running for 15 min np. the llc on my bios is on auto @level 5. and by the look of the graph lvl1 has higher vcore@ higher load than lvl5, is this normal, and should i change it to a lower lvl?

btw. why does coretemp show me 1.3761v and cpu-z shows 1.296v ??

ok, after running prime for 30min, the multi dropped off to 41... i dunno why. was under 60c on hottest core. and can any1 tell me how to make my cpu-z validated pic thing to show in my sig
