Xbox's Phil Spencer Plans to Fix the Windows/Microsoft Store for PC Gamers

About time they came out and admitted it. They've got some great games thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere, and while I'm willing to deal with the store in its current state to support them, I know many more people refuse to touch it with a ten foot barge pole regardless of what games are offered. I really hope they actually follow through on this.

What I think is quite archaic on the MS Store is if you have, For example, Gears of War, Forza etc... installed on a separate HDD and need to do a Windows format, Even though you have those games already downloaded and installed on your separate HDD, You have to redownload them all over again for your new Windows installation, That needs fixing ASAP, Steam, GOG, Origin, Uplay, BattleNet all have the ability to store games on a separate device and with a new installation of Windows or said programs you can simply point the application to the install folder, It scans it and if need be repairs any files and downloads missing portions.

This is 1 feature that should've been implemented upon the launch of the MS Store.

Absolutely agreed. I contacted Microsoft support about this issue a few months ago. It's so annoying to have hundreds of GB's re-downloaded for no good reason. It wasn't a big deal when I had one or two games on the store. Now I have some massive titles like Gears of War and Forza Horizon 4 it starts to become a major annoyance. It takes me a few days of solid downloading to get all my games from the Microsoft Store now.

I still haven't finished Gear 1 or 4, I want to but as I format and spring clean quite a lot, Once a month or so, It wouldn't be worth downloading near 200GB of files every month or 2 especially since I'm only on a 20Mbps line.

Personally, I found the store ridiculously cluttered, even more so than Steam. Unless I knew exactly what I was looking for it was like looking for a needle in a field of haystacks.
I think that both of those platforms need to look at this, steam is really bad at the moment as well, finding a gem is really really difficult unless you know exactly what you want.

The other issues are as mentioned the lack of scanning for files already installed and the buggy as hell integration with other software, I found that some apps have huge difficulties with Background engine, Shadowplay and Discord and the same issue as always, im fed up with all my games being in separate user interfaces. its the reason I gave up on battlefield and assassins creed. Console players do not have this issue and if Microsoft can come up with a solution this would be a massive bonus
