Hey all,

Who is looking forward to the Xbox Live update that is coming on the 19th of this month, incase some of you dont already know here are some of the features it is bringing explained in a short video:

It will also allow native monitor resolutions (1680x1050 for example) but the one I am most looking forward to is being able to load games onto your HDD, this will cut out alot of the noise produced by the extremely loud DVD drive at the minute.

I am looking forward to that feature so much that I have just today ordered an Xbox 360 Elite so I have more HDD space to load more games and save my ears :p

So is anyone else looking forward to this update as much as me...

Lets have some comments,

Thanks, Sam

Meh really. I think it's OK....Microsoft cashing in on others ideas, but what else is new.

Native monitor res is OK, but games will still only play @ 720p

Playing off the HDD is good, but if you've got a lot of games you'll not have room even with 120gb

I installed Heavenly Sword and PES09 onto my PS3 harddrive but it really didn't speed things up very much, and as Kemp says, it gobbles up space. Fast running out with all the demos I download. Down to about 5gb from 60 I think.

install to hard drive! yey! about time tbh the drives are flipping ridiculously loud.. that is my only rela gripe with the 360.

btw if ya running out of ps3 hdd space, buy a bigger one :D i got a 320gb in mine now after following kemp's advice and my drive is now slowly filling with 1080p rips and such, saves alot of noise and it is quicker too :) 7200rpm :D

you can upgrade ps3 hard drives?

wow

gotta try this

can you also plug in EHD's?

i've got a 200 gig one lying around somwhere not doing much...

yeah it's still under warranty too :D (obviously the drive itself isn't covered i dont think)

it really is the EASIEST upgrade ever, backup takes a while, as does the restore, but worthit.. hmm yes?!

Looks good! Although, I only have one game I play which I will move to my HDD, I think that it is going to cut down a lot of noise as has been said, although the fans still make more noise!

I hope it isn't hard to open up the 360, as I want to change the fans when my warranty runs out!

Luckily for you, it's not the fans, it's the DVD drive. Get a new hard drive, install all your games on it and hey presto: a system that doesn't sound above your 3000w surround sound setup :p

TBH, another attempt by Microsoft to increase it's sales pathetically by bringing out the features in which it lost by. You didn't see Sony jumping up at first release and adding every little feature XBOX had in it's hands did you?

I have heard the noise from the XBOX and my god is it terrible, the graphics sucked quite bad, anyone who says there is no difference needs to look closely. Why would new technology/much more powerful hardware be the same or less?

Not true^

Some games look better, some games look worse.

Games designed entirely for the PS3, however, look stunning

Yeah thats what I meant :P, all released are normally the same with no new textures. The only game I can see any improvement on PS3 and Xbox 360 is GTAIV. The Xbox looks much more colourful but on a 1080p TV your joking nothing on PS3 :D.

Generally if games are multi-platform, the 360 comes out tops because of it's dedicated AA engine. It's only games that are properly made for the PS3 that shine

My girlfriends little brother had a seXbox and I used to play it when I had nothing to do, and going from that to PS3 seemed really weird. I'm a PS3 man myself although I would buy an XBOX360 (again) just for Halo3 (which I sadly played once or twice:(). I used to spend hours on my xbox(1) and it never got boring :).

PS3 fanboy :D

I have both, but prefer my PS3's

I notice the plural :D.

I understand everyones gripe about the sound of the DVD Drive, it is a PITA.. put I just put up with it.. I personally think the PS3 is louder.. but thats my personal opinion.

As for the NXE, I like the Wii'ish Avatars, but I can see it all being bloated when you just want a quick game, as to me from the videos, the menus look sluggish.. hopefully not when I get it!

The best thing about it, as mentioned is the feature to be able to put games on your HDD. I've got a standard 20GB I got with my Premium.. question is, if I get a 120GB Official HDD, how will I transfer all my stuff over to it from the old 20GB?
