i think the black looks awsome

imagine if you stuck a red, or a green cathode in there, and it shone out through all the holes, how cool that would look

Ya know in all reality, HDMI is [not worth the price] the same as regular component cables, it just has support for 1080p (which is just catching on, plus high end component cables can carry 1080p if your hardware supports 1080p via component) and is easier for routing cables.

Think about it, one cable vs 4. Y'PbPr (three cables, RGB) and a toslink cable (for digital audio).

HDMI also loses signal strength/integrity/quality DRASTICALLY over long distances. Component, does not.

I've seen and tried HDMI vs Component and HDMI does look pretty good beside it, but puts everything you need in one simple cable

On a monitor you might notice a slight difference (for better or for worse) but on a TV you wont :D

They should make a black Wii with red cathodes. That would be boss.

Yes, that would be pure sex.

I'm thinking about selling my Wii since I'm never @ my parents to use it :(

Gotta tell ya, I ran cable in Sacramento, CA for about 8 months and did plenty of HD setups. Most of the time component was good enough, didn't see any blockiness; but like on the 26" HDTV I had an HDMI cable was absolutely necessary to make high def work, with component it looked like bright digital (read:@$$). The point being, component isn't always okay.
