Hi,

First of all sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum.

I have recently bought an AMD system and I'm wondering if I have setup it all correctly.

My biggest issue was setting the memory timings.

I bought some GSkill PC3-12800 4GB Ripjaws CL7 and I believe I have them running at 7-8-7-24@1600(like they are suppose to on stock).

Should I tweak anything else?

I'm still using the stock AMD Cooler and that's the reason why I haven't OC'd anything yet.

By the way I'm thinking about buying the Noctuac NH-U12P SE2.

I'm now waiting for my 6870 to arrive.

But I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to push the mems up to 2000Mhz? And the CPU up to 3.6 ? Will I see any big ups on perfomance?

Thank you guys.

Hey mate just use a different image hosting site,

http://nl.tinypic.com/ is a very good one...

Ow just wait for a a AMD user as i hardly used AMD , 2400+ was my last AMD CPU...

Al tho what are you tweaking for.. better gaming performance ?

aslong as the ram speed and timings are manualy set in the BIOS then its ok.

AMD does not like 2000mhz so aim for 1800mhz

and geth the DH14 yes it may be overkill but you can never be to cool and its the best cooler out

just bumpe multi up,if you have it stable as it is then uping the multi will be fine

Thanks guys

I was just wondering if I had something misconfigured although the system is performing well.

About the OCing I'm just curious about where I can go with it.

As soon as I get the graphics card I'll probably start really tweaking.

Hey guys,

I just have been offered what I believe to be a great deal to change my CPU to a Intel i7 930.

Will I see that much improvement in performance ? I mean is it really worth it or should I just keep my money and buy a damn 6870 ?

Thanks

Depends a little on what kind of deal you have, my good friend

but also whay you want to archive with the overclocks ,

i mean bencmarking wise its much better to go Intel (i7) more points

At the end of the day all I want is a stable gaming system for playing Bad Company 2 and some Java/C programming.

Well I was running a 955 a few months back before going back to intel, and overclocked it to 4.1Ghz but that was with a D14 cooler, the board was the same as yours. I didnt notice any real gains though other than in bench tests.

Edit: mine was a C3 stepping though, so I doubt yours would reach that clock.

Yeah I've read some stuff about the difference between a C2 and C3.

But what I'm more interested is how much of a change was it? Changing to Intel?

Well, I found that the programs I use with while doing research for uni, such as heavy GIS based programs and graphic programs such as coral draw and Photoshop, benefited from the change from AMD to and i7. Also the added bonus of triple channel ram is a great bonus. Depends what you are using it for really.

I use it for a lot of things. Between gaming, programming and some web designing. So yes I do actually use Photoshop a lot.

I might consider spending some money on the change then but first the 6870.

Thanks mate
