Intel will have an updated version of their DX38BT board using the X48 chipset and we heard it is likely to be called DX48BT or DX38BT2. Intel X48 is essentially X38 chipset but cherry picked so overclockability can be further enhanced. X48 will also officially support FSB1600. More importantly, X48 is to fix the EIST bug present in the X38 chipset that requires motherboard manufacturers to rework their X38 boards. Boards based on X48 chipset are slated to appear in Q1 2008.

Maybe worth waiting for?

Damn, would have been nice to have those for xmas.Still, will coincide nicely with the 45nm cpu release.

[Cynicism]

Intel have had EIST for...how long now? and they suddenly bork it on a high-end chipset? "Hey...Its ok folks, we'll have it fixed for a binned and even more expensive revision of the chipset in a few months!"

[/cynicism]

Well I for one hope to make it to the LN2 and agree that xmas would of been good to see these boards, look like we will have to make do with the P35's.

Plus I agree with K404 on the old conspiracy.

Well I knew there was a reason I wasn't upgrading my P5B benching board until after xmas for a reason :D

One thing I am noticing is that the X38 is not that all bugged, in fact it's performing better than most P35's. I'm actually contemplating getting one now as my P5W DH just died on me in a pretty impressive fireworks display.

The problems that people are finding is actually with the S3 states. The X48 is not going to fix many issues if any as it's just a cherry picked X38 so will inherit the bugs from X38 and carry them across to X48.

Sooooo if I can afford one, I'm going X38 and not X48 as I can't be doing with changing to DDR3 yet and spending more money on something so new.

Good for you mate - I'll be waiting based on the assumption no matter how good this one is the X48 will be better, sldo, I think it's true to say that memory performance on the P35 is better than X38 ;)
