Worth sticking it out with my 570's or going 780ti?

Hey guys so its that aged old question, do i hold out for next gen GPU's or should I bite the financial bullet and buy a 780ti.

The main reason I'm asking is that while my 570's are capable of playing games on ultra, they get very hot and are draining on the electric bill not to mention the limiting v-ram and micro stuttering.

So is it worth sticking it out or splashing the cash on a 780ti or 780?

Cheers

Very little information on Maxwell GPUs and even less on AMD(we do not even have codenames yet).

Maxwell is supposed to be the next big thing but again little information about that. First cards are supposed to appear in middle of next year(rumor). Thats over 6months. I personally would wait or go on to buy a R9 290 if budget is tight. If you can extend to a 780ti then go for it. Mine as well wait till xmas for AIB partners to come out and release their own coolers for even better OC'ing/cooler/quieter.

Yeah good point on Maxwell and the next AMD GPU's, I've got the budget for a 780ti but wanted to wait for an aftermarket cooled one anyways. I guess I'm just itching for an upgrade because these 570's are like living next to an airport haha

A 780ti is not a bad invesment. I do not think Maxwell will have much more to offer performance wise over a 780ti. Nvidia would have to build an even bigger core to be able to overthrow its former king.

780ti OC'ed will eat up anything and even some SLI/Xfire configurations.

would be quite pointless to release a new series if it can hardly beat the previous one eh? especially when you move on from an entire family of gpus. ah well, all speculations. what i do agree on is to wait till next year, prices will drop with the 290x getting more competitive and as we are approaching christmas prices are getting close to their peak i guess.
Now it really depends on how badly you got the upgrade itch, when i get it i sometimes tend to overthrow all good reasoning and just go for what i want now, probably not a good idea considering that the 780ti will probably drop by at least 50 euros by the end of the month.

If you can afford it then get the best single card solution available, It's rumoured that Maxwell won't be hitting shelves until the end of summer so might as well get a powerhouse now to last you a while plus the heat will be less and your electricity bill will go down :)

Right, remember HD6000 series? Or any CPU since SB?

kepler to maxwell, that should be a little bit more than just a rebrand or an optimization. also intel is known for doing their tick tock thing, even though they did the tick 2 times already.

Last weekend i ditched my 570 sli setup for a single msi 770 lightning and i absolutely love it, although i have the msi twinfrozr 570's and they werent to loud, i to had to think about my bills and not having microstutters anymore is a great pleasure. The 770 lightning is an epic card and it is so silent all the time, its wonderfull.

keep 570's and turn your heating off this winter.. win win. buy some earplugs :)

but yeah them 780s are like awesome, and you could always project your leccy savings and convince yourself you would save more money to buy two of them...

Thanks for all the reply's guys, sorry I've not replied aha but while the 570's are keeping my home toasty this crimbo I'm gonna have to get a 780 Ti since I've been given a 3rd 1080p display and would rather have the more grunt of a 780 Ti then a 780, now I'm contemplating the 3GB VRAM aha, there's just no winning
