As the title says.

I can get a 570 directCU II for around £130.
Would it be worth buying the 570 over a current gen GPU for about the same money?

Tough one IMO.

Reason I say it's tough is because I have pretty much no idea how it stands up against cards such as the 650ti Boost.

I would do some serious homework mate. I don't think it's quite worth £130 tbh, more like £110.

Do some research on the 650ti Boost mate. Far lower power consumption.

There you go. 650ti Boost benched against the 570 among others. Looks like it comes out just behind, but, uses a lot less power.

I would say go for it. Closest thing to it price wise is a 7850 for 150 quid off aria. It beats the 7850 in most games from what i can see. what are you upgrading from??

EDIT: Had a better look around and I would save for a while longer and get something newer.

After looking at benchmarks I was actually amazed by the fact that a 570 is pretty much the same as a 7850, personally I would spend a little more and get the 7870 Tahiti LE

that 570 is a triple slot so if you have any future plans later on SLI.. you'll need a
wide PCIe spacing board.. unless you can get it under 110, i'd pass. too much newer
tech for same or less..

Pixmania are in France and RMA is a complete nightmare.

WAE+ don't hold stock they are a drop shipper so RMA is impossible.

Pixamainia is also in the UK. You get warranty with the manufacture though so you can just deal with them direct.

I'm sorry about the long wait. Have Had more things to do lately than I generally like :-/

In any case. I appreciate the feedback, and it has been taken into consideration.

I'm not upgrading. This is for a completely new build. I gave my old LAN rig to a friend who couldn't afford a decent PC for college. So this will be a replacement.

After further consideration, I am currently leaning towards a 660.

Tough one I guess. Short answer, no.
The 570 is still decent, but the old Nvidia GPU's do require a lot of power. But not taking that into account, I would say go with a GTX 650 Ti. The only other GPU within £130 would be a 2GB 7790. However I'd still say 650 Ti over anything else @ The £130 price mark.

My first thought after ruling out the 570, was the 660. Having had a bit more time to think and look around, I am leaning more towards the 7870 Tahiti LE at the moment. That seems to be the current sweet spot for price/performance ratio.

I will be ordering the parts next week and unless I get a really good deal on a 660, 660Ti or similar, I will be going with the 7870.

Oh alright. I only suggested the 650 Ti because of the amount you was going to spend on the 570. It depends on how much you're wanting to spend really. You can pick up a 2GB GTX 660 For around £15-30 extra, which would bring you to say £150. But for around £10 on top of that £150, I'm guessing you could pick up a Tahiti LE 7870, as you already know. Personally, I don't really know what I'd rather.. Probably the 7870 LE. But both are decent, however if you don't have that extra money, then the GTX 660 will still be fine.

Good luck with whatever you chose.

Just ordered the new card.
Ended up getting a Club3D 7870XT JokerCard (Tahiti LE).

Paid £186,- for it (which is a very good price by Danish standards).
In the end, the games that come bundled with it, was quite a big factor.

Far Cry 3
Bioshock Infinite
Tomb Raider
Hitman Absolution
Nexuiz

All good games that I were thinking about buying and they represent a value of £165,- on Steam.

I feel like I got a pretty decent deal.
