I think Blizz ruined the guilds when they introduced gold into it and the bonuses, you had guilds with 200 players and guild chat was empty, you'd have people making 5 or 6 guilds and never needing to worry about gold again. and LFR so you never need a guild, I can understand catering to the casual player but Blizz went over the top to make it easy and in that way you'd seen all the content in a week or 2 and got the gear.
The new silence I think is going to be a big grey area and abused something chronic, I'd like to know how it works how much investigation before you get silenced, what guide lines the GM's have, is it down to the individual GM's so you may get away with something 1 day and not another

I do miss the grind of wow and I agree with you they made it too easy to gear up. When I was raiding Dragon Soul in Cata it took me 6 months to get my 4 set and only one of the guild got the mages staff. I hate lfr with a passion. It will be interesting to see how the new silence mode is going to work I had an add-on called Elephant which records all the chat so you can review it and copy/paste if someone was trolling me.

My thought on the silence is, by the time you get a GM to respond they investigate and do something it would be quicker to hit the ignore, so Blizz should increase the ignore limit.
But also what if for instance I keep killing mobs you want just to pee you off and you end up saying something in chat I report you, which is why i wonder how much investigation, how many need to complain do they check that others who complain are actually in the area and it's not a couple of my mates I've asked to complain as i say lots of abuse opportunities. My big worry is to many people with soft feelings these days and could bring chat to a complete nothing as your to scared to type anything
