Workstation Graphics Card?

I've been looking for a new graphics card for my workstation, I'm not really a gamer, but would like the option to still be there. I do work that involves 3D modeling/rendering and I also do some video editing.

So I guess the main performance aspect of the card will be its OpenCL benchmark?

I was waiting off for the R9 290X, but after finding out it has heat issues... I'm put off by it. Waiting for a third-party R9 290X; one with a decent cooler will have me waiting into next year...

nVidea cards simply don't cut it when it comes to OpenCL which is a shame.

I also don't fancy two cards in crossfire (my current setup is 2x5770's)

So the next best option? A 7990, pretty much the same price as the R9 290X atm.

No crossfire issues, less heat than two cards in crossfire AND it owns the OpenCL benchmarks.

Any other recommendations? Should I wait for a Dual GPU R9 290X card?

7990 is essentially 7970 CFX, so you'll get the same issues you would with two cards.

Not necessarily, since the GPU's on the 7990 are on the same card and there for don't communicate the same way, everything is done on the card.

Which is why dual-gpu cards almost always outperform their corssfire equivalent.
