Windows XP Users to Miss Out on Windows Live Essentials 2010 / Wave 4

hmmm, I guess XP users will have to use non-microsoft software to do what this essentials stuff does.

There's no real reason to strap this down to Vista+ other than to move people away from XP.

Hmmm not really, its quite common for companies to drop support for legacy software/hardware so they can focus on spending more bug fixing/improvements for thier latest products.

And XP has been extended for support so many times from when microsoft did intend to stop supporting XP, much like ATI has ended support for its legacy products so they can focus on thier newer, current gen hardware.

I'd fundamentally agree with u if this were a package that was, and needed to be, specific to a particular OS. It's not a kind of thing where u would consider an OS type as any advantage in terms of what it does.

XP users will find alternatives. Or even some clever chap who'll hack a way to install such things.
