Yesterday the official Windows Vista Beta 1 was released and is now being sent to 20,000 Beta testers and MSDN Subscribers. If you haven't yet received an invitation. Don't give up you may still receive an invitation later on when Microsoft sends the next wave of invitation. As you may have seen Windows Vista Beta 1 has been launched ahead of schedule because it had to be released on 3rd August.

For MSDN Subscribers these download versions of Windows Vista are available:

Windows Longhorn Professional Edition Beta 1 - checked/debug (English) 2.49 GB

Windows Longhorn Professional Edition Beta 1 (English) 2.42 GB

Windows Longhorn Professional Edition Beta 1 Windows Developers Kit (English) 361.59 MB

Windows Longhorn Professional x64 Edition Beta 1 - checked/debug (English) 1.84 GB

Windows Longhorn Professional x64 Edition Beta 1 (English) 1.73 GB

Also Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta has been released to the same windows Vista Testers and is available in the real IE7 for Vista and another one for Windows XP (with SP2 only), Windows x64 and Windows 2003.

One difference between the two is temporary , according to Schare. The IE 7.0 beta that runs on XP SP2 includes the new phishing filter that Microsoft has designed to be part of the product. The IE 7.0 bits that are part of Vista Beta 1 does not yet include the filter, but it will do so by the time Microsoft releases Vista Beta 2. The reason for the discrepancy was purely scheduling, Schare said. The Vista team froze the Vista Beta 1 code before the filter was ready for inclusion.

As you may have seen the boot screen hasn't been updated yet to Windows Vista but it's still boots saying Windows Longhorn. Also in some other Parts of The OS it still says Longhorn instead of Vista.

I love how they boast quick startup with every new os even though each next gen os they come out with takes longer to load than the last :D

It looks nice, but then i turn all that flashy junk off anyway so it probably wont make any difference to me
