well first off is it genuine??? pirates are good these days. Did you buy it from a reputable place??
ok that asked. Have you ran the windows validation software that normally is required before updates are allowed?? If you skipped over that step that may be ur issue try going to M s website by using windows updates and see if it checks ur system. Barring that go to M s website manually and search for Windows validation. It should load a small app to check you out.
Barring all that contact M$ and see if they can help validate ur copy of windows
heres a link that has the download on it for validation
I think different versions of Windows can get upset by different things. For example, Windows 7 Ultimate like wot I have, only complains when you change the motherboard - like wot I did lol. Other "lesser" versions can be even more fussy depending what you change. I think OEMs can throw a wobbly changing any harware item, though I've no experience of that myself.
I did have an earlier version of windows go all "Stop! Thief!" on me once when an automatic update went FUBAR. Thing is it told me my windows wasn't genuine (it was genuine needless to say) but then totally locked the install so I couldn't to ANYTHING other than boot into windows and look at my desktop. Had to do a rebuild which was a pain. Actually, I could technically have had a proper moan at MS as THEIR error prevented me from accessing MY data...which they'd get into trouble for in the EU. Actually, there was an article a few years back where someone who'd knowingly used a pirated version of Windows, who'd then been locked out, technically got MS in trouble for preventing him from being able to access his data. Daft but true...well, it was on the Internet so it must be true right?
There you go, another rambling reply from me...lol.
