Windows 9 may be free to windows 8 owners

Microsoft's Indonesia president, Andreas Diantoro, has said that Windows 9 will be a free upgrade to all windows 8 users.

Going to be rather interested in this even though I'm coming from win7. Microsoft tend to have a good/bad cycle of releases going so this one falls under what should be good (though 8 wasn't bad just poorly received).

Now if it works with Office 2010, yaldi

thought this had been mentioned a few months ago, and was virtually a guarantee.
the twist back then was they were thinking of giving xp users a direct install option too (obviously you cant just upgrade in 1 hit from xp to 9 but you can do a clean install)
i was rather dubious of that, but the speculation was they wanted people to stop using xp so give them a free upgrade..

Indeed, it'll be called Windows 10 cause they "didn't think it'd be appropriate to call it Windows 9". Why that is, we don't know. We're also getting a Windows 7 style start menu, but including live tiles.

I like the look of that start menu - strikes a nice balance between windows 7 and my phone
